Orica Weihai

In early 1998, the first cooperative joint venture (CJV) in the Chinese explosive industry was formed by ICI Australia (later Orica Australia)

Orica (Weihai –OEW) have two factories and their related infrastructure on a green fields site in the village of Gushan, Weihai, Shandong Province. These facilities will include an “Exel” non-electric detonator plant of 14 million units capacity and a Powergel explosive plant of 3000 tonnes capacity. OEW got the SGS ISO9001:2000 certification in 2006 . Eight years after OMS entry into China, OEW has developed its business with over 200 employees serving over 140 domestic customers in open cut mines, underground non-coal mines, quarries and constructions.
