Job purpose

To foster expertise in coking coal market and produce quality prices and news in line with the company’s PRA approach. To work within a regional and global team to support the development and adoption of Fastmarkets' benchmark prices.

Principal accountabilities

? Foster in-depth knowledge of the fundamentals, supply chain, end-uses and key participants for specific markets to generate representative prices and world-class content

? Collect pricing data and set prices in line with the company’s robust methodology, price specifications and IOSCO principles

? Back colleagues up on their pricing patches to provide cover and consistency for the market and build up a wider knowledge base

? Peer review prices to verify that processes have been followed and editorial judgement applied correctly to ensure our prices are representative

? Write market commentaries, breaking news and insightful copy with PRA angles, to support the growth in readership and the use of Fastmarkets’ prices in physical and financial contracts.

? Manage and expand the number of industry contacts that submit pricing data and give news exclusives, using all means of communication including face-to-face meetings and networking

? Handle questions from contacts and the market about the dynamics of particular pricing sessions, seeking guidance from senior reporters or section editor when inquiries are sensitive, to make our processes and judgement transparent to the market

? Help foster Fastmarkets’ prices and expertise through the team’s market engagement plan, which includes producing PRA content, white papers and infographics, participating to internal and external events, promoting the company on social media, and attending industry meetings

Key interfaces

? Work with a team of regional price reporters to communicate, define and execute the daily agenda of content and prices in coordination with the global team.

? Report to section editor and follow guidance from senior reporters within the team. Attend training courses.

When necessary liaise with other divisions of Fastmarkets (price development team, marketing and events) to help implement the company’s PRA strategy.

? Engage with major industry participants (traders, producers, consumers and brokers) about the markets you cover, in line with the team’s market engagement plan.

Skills Required

+ Fluency in Mandarin and English (written and spoken)

+ An interest in and understanding of financial markets and commodities.

+ Ability to work with numbers and excel spreadsheets and produce analytical editorial copy

+ Strong networking and communication skills, and good confident telephone manner.

+ Team player who fosters excellent working culture and acts - both internally and externally - in a courteous and professional manner with impeccable integrity.

+ 1-2 years’ experience in journalism is helpful but not mandatory

Fastmarkets is Euromoney’s commodities price reporting, information and events business. It is growing rapidly. Its business serves the global metals, minerals, forest-products and agriculture markets. The business also runs events for each of its three market verticals. Historically a news-led subscription business, the strategy has been to evolve the operation into a pricing-led data business.

We launched Fastmarkets as the business’s new brand in the summer of 2018. Fastmarkets encompasses the brands of Metal Bulletin, American Metal Market, RISI, FOEX, Random Lengths and AgriCensus. These storied brands, the oldest dating back to 1874, are leading names in commodity pricing in the global metals, mining, forest product and agriculture markets.

Considerable investment is being made into developing a world class CRM sales and marketing stack built around Salesforce. Further investment has been made in establishing a global operations team to ensure we have the right sales reporting infrastructure together with a strong client services and customer success operation alongside.

We are seeking an experienced Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) to join us in our mission, with a focus on strategic planning, product development, partnerships and ultimately accelerating our strategy. Together with other members of the executive team, the individual will execute the current corporate strategic plan, focusing on the sale of licences for the use of our data within client organisations, expansion to new customer segments and partnerships, while ultimately strengthening the sales team, structure and process. She/he will also be instrumental in creating future strategic plans with the goal of boosting profitable revenue streams.

This individual will have accountability for revenues of circa ￡90m, with operations in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. The sales operation at Fastmarkets includes around 90 FTEs spread across the globe based in London, Brussels, Boston, Chicago, Singapore, Shanghai, Ukraine and Sao Paolo.

Growth is expected to come organically through price reporting and benchmarking services and the development of product sets for new client groups (including financials and buyer segments).
