JOB TITLE: Quality Manager(QM)

REPORTS TO: China Purchasing Manager (CPM)

BRANCH: DSI IPO (Shanghai)

DEPARTMENT: Procurement

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

This is a key position for DSI IPO in Shanghai as DSI attach importance to the quality all the time.

1. Familiar with the assessment tools, a variety of metal / plastic material and manufacturing technique not limited to forging, casting, welding etc.
2. Know well in general measurement instruments including callipers, hardness tester, two/three-dimensional projector etc.
3. Travel domestically, often overnight
4. Expected to be proactive and desire to learn with enthusiasm.

FUNCTIONS:

1. Ensure compliance of the suppliers with Quality Environment, Health and Safety system with DSI demands
2. Work with China Purchasing Manager as a sourcing team to qualify new supplier in Far East Area.
3. Ensure supplier can meet DSI quality requirements by means of supplier assessment, continue improvement programme, sample test, PPAP process.
4. Monitor and improve supplier quality performance in order to reduce the cost of poor quality(COPQ)
5. Make sure that the items dispatched from suppliers with good quality.
6. Follow Non-conformity quality handling process to handle defects.

GPC = Global Procurement Council

IPO = International Purchasing Office (China)

CPM = China Purchasing Manager

QM = Quality Manager (this position)

ROLES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Shall ensure that the health, safety & environmental requirements of this function are maintained in accordance with statutory legislation and company policies and procedures.
2. Shall ensure that safety is the primary focus of employees working under your direction or guidance.
3. Shall comply with the DSI Spirit and adhere to the highest standards of ethical business practices.
4. Conduct audits and supplier assessment including supplier management; product development; production; warehouse; incoming and final inspection; OH&S and follow up improvement plans, check supplier implementation.
5. Handle sampling procedure, evaluate the sample documents from supplier, conduct on site process audit and control at the suppliers and see implemented improvements, approve sample.
6. Do the product random checking at supplier before dispatch to DSI warehouse in order to make sure no surprise when the items arrived DSI warehouse.
7. Handle Non-conformity reports, working with DSI group quality to implement the corrective action and preventative action at supplier site.
8. Measure and monitor the supplier quality performance, set up supplier scorecard for each suppliers and do the continued improvements to close the gap.
9. Work closely with DSI global quality and technical engineers to define critical to quality (CTQ) for critical items, pay more attention to these areas.
10. Provide necessary coaching and training to supplier if needed.
11. Assist the supplier to understand DSI drawings and specifications, make sure supplier have good knowledge about it and meet the requirements.
12. Handle engineer changing requirement toward suppliers.
13. Ensure compliance of employees and suppliers to the ethical standards mandated in the DSI Spirit.

RELATIONSHIPS & AUTHORITY

1. Report to CPM
2. Cross working with DSI global quality and technical team.
3. Key role in IPO shanghai office for supplier approval, sign off sample test etc.

SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Strong ethical foundation
2. Good team player
3. Willing to invest the time required to learn the specifics of DSI parts and quality criteria
4. Know well in general measurement instruments
5. Familiar with the assessment tools, a variety of metal / plastic material and manufacturing technique not limited to forging, casting, welding etc.
6. Can work under pressure.
7. 6-8 years of experience in quality
8. Bilingual English & Mandarin, strong communications skills (written and verbal)
9. Experience with Western values/expectations
10. B.S or above in Engineering
11. With auditor certificates, third party audit certificates preferred.
12. Good experience in mechanical items, and familiar with casting, forging, machining processes.
13. With knowledge about NCR, 8-D report, FMEA, Lean, Six-sigma preferred.
14. Willing to travel domestically, often overnight
