About the Management Trainee Program

Our Management Trainee Program is an 18-month well-designed elite program with the following aims:

·         To provide you with a unique opportunity to kick off your dream career

·         To make you own contribution to the bank as a Management Trainee with early responsibilities

·         To build solid foundation for your future career development in banking industry

As MT, you are encouraged to participate in designing your own rotation plan. It is estimated that you will take on 5 to 6 rotations across the bank, including but not limited to the CEO Office, Front Office, and Control Functions. This will allow you the maximum exposure to the operations of our business and enable you to get a topline overview from the perspective of the senior management team.

In addition to affluent exposure on our range of active projects and in-depth interactions with the various business units, your rotation experience will help you be acquainted with every aspect of the bank, which will surely set you up for a successful career path leading to core leadership positions in our organization.  

We expect candidates to get to understand what it means to be a MT and how a MT’s responsibilities differentiate from a common employee’s during the rotation. MTs are also expected to not only excel at your daily works of your rotation departments, but also be able to examine the bank’s business model at a higher level. We value your fresh pairs of eyes and we look forward to hearing your innovative ideas.

After the rotation period, you will start an exciting journey by joining a department that is the best fit. The landing result will be based on the mutual choice between you and your desired department, which will guarantee you the best chance to reach your potentials.

As your career develops, you will be involved in management level tasks and decision-making procedures, taking more responsibilities on the bank’s development and tackle the transversal “Run the Bank” and “Change the Bank” tasks in your future career. You will cover the task of finding the subtle balance between business development, risk-taking and resources allocation. 

GBSU Stream (Global Banking Services Unit) & CEN (Central Function)

Global Business Services Unit (GBSU) & Central Function (CEN) is a key partner for business lines development and performance. This global team gathers the following support functions:

·         Operations (OPER), 

·         Information Technology (ITEC),

·         Transformation & Project Office (TPO),

·         Corporate Services, Real Estate, Sourcing (CRE)

·         Operational Risk Monitoring & Oversight (RMO)

·         Client Lifecyle & Digital (CLD)

·         Finance (DFIN)

·         Legal (LGL)

·         Compliance (CPLE)

·         Audit (IGAD)

·         Communication (COMM)

·         Risk (RISQ)

As a supporting function, our role is to provide the most competitive operating model on the market to business lines while delivering a high-quality level of service and innovative solutions in a risk-controlled environment. In China, GBSU & CEN regroups 140 professionals spread across 7 locations, with a centralization of transversal functions in Beijing and two platforms dedicated to market activities (Shanghai) and Trade (Guangzhou).

Who We are Looking for

Final year students or recent graduates of Bachelor or Master degree from any disciplines with excellent academic results and following valued merits:

o   Committed to developing a long-term career in the banking industry;

o   Great commercial acumen;

o   Self-motivated and able to work under pressure;

o   Open to different ideas and cultures;

o   Possessing competent skills in the aspect of leadership, problem solving, critical thinking, innovation, and interpersonal communication;

o   Willing to be relocated to different cities in China;

o   Excellent command of English and Chinese.
