CONTEXT
Among the wide spectrum of EDF’s activities in China, one concerns the design and operation of Low carbon and Smart energy systems. The Energy Services business unit (ESBU) of EDF China designs, builds and operates such systems, whereas the R&D Center develops dedicated support in order to (1) enhance systems performances, in particular innovative methodologies and tools are necessary to handle the increasing complexity of these systems combining multi-energy, intermittent renewables and storage, and (2) conduct supporting studies to market these systems in the global perspective of energy planning y for smart and low carbon territories.
This job position, host at the R&D China center of EDF, deals with studies of local energy systems planning, conceptual design and optimization for both target (1) and (2).
YOUR MISSION
Your mission is to work in the field of local energy systems at urban planning, conceptual design and operating stage. Your know-how will contribute to make studies for internal R&D purpose, as well as for EDF client (such as ESBU) or external clients. These studies concern experimental pilots or industrial projects. Your work will be focus on the modeling and optimization of systems involving heat, mass, and electricity transfer or other energy processes, in order to assess the technico-economical and environmental performances of such systems and suggest improvement based on the best available technologies.
YOUR JOB
The candidate has to fulfill the requirement for the main tasks as follows:
? Having a global and integrative understanding of energy systems (including electrical, thermal and renewable energy systems), in particular to be able to challenge simulation and evaluation results.
? Understand the mainstream of global and Chinese market for such technologies.
? Running simulation and optimization digital tools – having a good understanding of dynamic simulation basics and optimization principles so as to be able to program dedicated modules as required.
? Writing technical reports
? Being a technical interface with R&D colleagues in France and other Intl centers
? Business trips in China and potentially in Europe are expected.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Educational skills and working experience:
? Master degree or higher degree in process engineering, electrical or thermodynamics from an engineering university in China or abroad, preferably with a Master Degree abroad
Technical and personal skills:
? Competency in digital simulation in particular with tools and methods within the energy sector. Modeling and programming skills, as well as be able to autonomously apply them to different energy solution proposals and evaluate their technical and economic feasibility
? General knowledge and interest about sustainability, concerning related concepts and methods as well as expertise on technological solutions. Energy related aspects are of main interest (i.e. renewable and distributed energy, district energies or energy efficiency, assessment of CO2 and other emissions).
? Good writing aptitude as well being synthetic
? Team spirit, flexibility, curiosity, strong motivation to work in a foreign (French) R&D team, adaptation and communication skills due to different working environments and subjects
Language skills:
? Chinese as a mother tongue
? Very good English level both spoken and written is mandatory
? Abilities in French language are more than welcome; otherwise, willingness to learn French
