Position Summary
The Field Cell Culture Scientist and Technical Advisor, BioProcessing (abbreviated as Scientist) is bi-lingual (English/Mandarin) and responsible for proactively supporting the sales and use of solutions in and for bioproduction environments, with great focus on Large Scale Adherent Cell Culture applications. The Scientist has a central role in identifying relevant development areas for and related to Large Scale Adherent Cell Culture solutions, including products and services. By direct interaction with end users, this position is responsible for initiating, managing and maturing ideas into product and solution concepts. As part of this process, a close collaboration with Product Marketing is essential. Additionally, the Scientist provides hands-on and on-site support to end users in Asia Pacific to help trouble-shoot and/or understand difficulties in using corporation solutions in bioprocessing. This position also reports competitive and other market intelligence as gathered during field experience.

In collaboration with Laboratory Technicians, the Scientist conducts experimental design and evaluations, executes experiments and communicates results along with supporting documentation of the completed experiments.

Key Responsibilities
? Trouble-shoots end users’ processes by advising and offering technical expertise on the use of corporation solutions bioproduction environments, with great focus on Large Scale Adherent Cell Culture.
? Report on end users’ experience, market intelligence as gathered
? Recommend new methods, procedures, equipment and techniques to solve issues end users encountered
? Assist in product development, technical support activities and evaluations associated with product inquiries
? Write internal and external reports, including application notes and scientific journal articles.
? Present technical information in support of research and development efforts, technical support and Marketing.
? Travel activities to end users, research partners and other facilities in support of research and product development and to offer and/or promote technical expertise.
? Investigate and implement analytical methods, involving new instrumentation and/or experimental protocols for testing new and existing products.
? Conduct initial studies of relevant patent literature.
? Training of laboratory technicians.
? Participate as a team member on new product development teams:
o Assist in specifying technical definition of product, including product requirements, concept definition and product evaluation
o Assist QA/QC in developing test procedures
o Assist in writing documentation describing products and their applications

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
? English/Mandarin fluency. Additional languages are a real plus.
? Master of Science, preferably a Ph.D, with min 3 years of hands-on experience in culturing of mammalian cell lines associated with adherent-cell bioproduction (e.g. MRC-5, CEF, CHO and others), and expressing virus or protein products. Exposure to downstream processes is also required.
? Location in China
? Require up to 70% travel - including international (mostly within the Asia Pacific region)
? Ability to work in a multinational/multicultural environment
? Global business acumen

? Proven technical capabilities in adherent-cell bioproduction, specifically at scales higher than research scale.
? Demonstrated experience in working with customers, commercial teams and varied sales channels including distributors and direct end users.
? Strong emotional intelligence (ability to read people, decode un-spoken words to avoid direct conflict with end users)
