Responsibilities:

1. Process lead with active participation in R&D projects, including coordination with plant for new product trials, and collaboration with third party innovative partners such as milling machine suppliers and counterparts of Nippon Paint Japan and Bollig Kemper. 

2. Lead or support process design for new plant.

3. Support Core R&D Pigment Dispersion Team to optimize manufacturing processes and successful scale-up of new product developments of pigment dispersions. 

4. Support the development of solutions for a variety of technical challenges assuming the role of team leader in projects as needed. 

5. Develop solutions and implement designs for process improvements using the plant MOC and project procedures. 

6. Study process alternatives and develop preliminary economics analysis to advance technology. 

7. Provide plant support as necessary (Shanghai, Tianjin, Langfang, Chengdu, Guangzhou) and participate in development of operating procedures and process documents. Support or direct test runs and/or new product trials in the plants. 

8. Using knowledge of process chemistry and operations, develop and lead cost savings initiatives at the plants. 

9. Utilize rigorous statistical methodology, including DOE, SQC, regression, and other forms of optimization. 

10. Perform basic engineering work dealing with the development of process technology for capital projects, improving plant performance, and/or testing of new equipment concepts. Expected to show originality and innovation in developing problem solutions. 

11. Identify process safety improvement opportunities and develop improvements where appropriate. 

Requirements:

1. PhD degree in chemistry or chemical engineering or polymer is required. An undergraduate degree in chemical engineering is preferred for this position.  

2. Demonstrated ability to work in team and fast paced environment

3. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

4. Effective written and oral communication skills

5. Good command of written and verbal English
