Position Highlights

Provides product application engineering support to the Asian customer base, sales and service organizations, and the assigned UIC product teams. Obtains full understanding of the customer's technical application needs, both existing and evolving, and determines the proper application of UIC's products to satisfy those needs. Provides support both before and after the sale, and coordinates all issues with the appropriate product team to insure an accurate, detailed understanding and timely resolution of customer expectations and ongoing requirements. Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of the technical specifications and capabilities of assigned UIC products, and uses excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills to meet customer expectations.

This position reports directly to Applications Manager-Asia, based in Shanghai


Application support related :

1. Works directly with sales, service and customers on specific pre-sale and post-sale product and process application issues. Assists sales engineer and customer in evaluating feasibility and alternatives utilizing UIC products.
2. Reviews customer's circuit board design, related manufacturing processes, required production capacities and identifies projected production savings based upon use of proposed equipment. Prepares and reviews with sales and customer competitive analysis information and prepares production capability and financial ROI analysis to assist sales and customer with capital equipment justification.
3. Assists in defining market needs for new products features and enhancements. Provides valuable input for the development of new equipment specifications and product performance requirements.
4. Evaluates prospective new applications, obtain all relevant information and specifications from the potential customer, identifies suggestions, determines estimate of work required to achieve results, and determines feasibility of an application for UIC's equipment.
5. Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of the technical specifications and capabilities of UIC products.
 
Technical support related :

1. Assists/supports field engineers and customers via telephone, FAX, email, or correspondence to resolve mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and software problems associated with the operation, programming, troubleshooting and maintenance of UIC products.
2. Analyzes reports of technical problems to identify trends affecting future design, production, service and maintenance processes; may recommend design or process modifications to avoid future problems.
3. Communicates regularly with technical specialists, product teams and central engineering in Binghamton regarding outstanding field issues. Provides recommendations for solutions to field product issues.
4. Visits customer sites to either collect data on improvements to UIC products, gain feedback from customer on outstanding product issues, assist field engineering, or to provide technical assistance or training.
5. Maintains up-to-date product documentation on assigned products. Responsible for keeping abreast of product improvements for problem resolutions and technical details of new product introductions. Communicates information to sales and field organization.

Design engineering support related :

I. Researches and analyses data such as customer design proposals, specifications and manuals to determine feasibility and cost of design or application.
II. Provides design improvement recommendations for UIC assigned products based on customer feedback and determines/coordinates action plan based on product team priorities and resource availability.
III. Analyzes product or application opportunities and performs design calculations based on engineering principles.
IV. May participate in and evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
V. May use computer-assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop/design solutions to customer issues.
Designs, documents, and procures/modifies parts or assemblies for prototype testing. Develops and coordinates test plan. Compiles test data and documents formal report for distribution to respective personnel.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in a technical discipline and two to five years experience in electronics PCB assembly and/or capital goods industry OR Associate's degree or Diploma in a technical field and a level of technical knowledge which would normally be associated with college-level courses, plus four to seven years experience in the electronics PCB assembly industry, including significant customer contacts.

Precise technical written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate in English and Mandarin languages.

Must be self motivated and have the ability to prioritize workload and complete assignments in a cross-functional team environment. 举报 分享
