Job Title: China Recruitment Officer
Reporting to: Regional Manager East Asia
Location: Shanghai
Summary of Role:
To be responsible for the recruitment of students (short course, full time, undergraduate, and postgraduate) from East Asia to study at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) in the UK, the marketing and public relations activities of LJMU in support of its business objectives, and to meet annual targets and strategic objectives in each of these areas.
Main Duties:
1. Reporting to the Regional Manager East Asia, to be responsible for the development and implementation of an annual plan (agreed with the Regional Manager) of recruitment and marketing activities to achieve agreed annual targets.
2. To provide recommendations to the Regional Manager, on strategies that will deliver increased competitive edge for LJMU and enable it to meet its business objectives.
3. To provide a demonstrably effective and efficient, professional service to students, external customers and stakeholders, LJMU Schools & Faculties and other LJMU Service departments.
4. To be responsible to the Regional Manager for any devolved management and control of the budgets allocated to recruitment and marketing activities, ensuring expenditure against plan and provision of regular formal and informal reporting to the Regional Manager (format & frequency of reporting to be agreed with the Regional Manager).
5. To be responsible for the monitoring and interpretation of all data relating to the company’s performance in the recruitment market, preparing reports for the Regional Manager and Company Executive Board as soon as data is available , and using relevant interpretative / mapping tools.
6. To be responsible for ensuring LJMU has up-to-date, relevant market intelligence so as to be able to contribute to commercial and academic developments and thus maintain market competitiveness.
7. To be responsible for assisting students from China who are to study with LJMU to effective smooth transfer to the UK (e.g. by assisting visa application, providing timely and appropriate immigration advice, arranging accommodation, conducting pre-departure briefing etc.).
8. To support the management and implementation of LJMU’s policies and processes with regards to recruitment, marketing and corporate communications.
9. To support the development and advise on the implementation of LJMU branding and brand values in all marketing communications by the Regional Office, its agents and partners. This will involve monitoring the use of recruitment materials produced by partners, and taking corrective action to ensure consistency of identity within brand guidelines and relevant partnership contracts.
10. To support in the event management of Graduation ceremonies, alumni events, conferences and other events, working (as directed by the Regional Manager) in close liaison with teams at LJMU in the UK as and when required.
11. To undertake other duties as may be required by the Regional Manager.
12. To assist in developing strong partner relationship or to work with partners in developing strong links and networks that enhances both partner and LJMU revenue streams and prospects.
Person Specification:
? Strong influencing skills and a commitment to team work.
? Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills (proficiency in spoken and written English is essential; ability to speak other Asian languages would be of an advantage).
? Proven planning and organisational skills.
? An ability to prioritise, to solve problems, to take decisions and responsibility.
? Proficiency in use and interpretation of data.
? Attention to detail, to personal presentation, thoroughness and fairness.
? Enthusiasm, commitment, stamina and a positive attitude.
? An ability and willingness to travel, within East Asia and when necessary, further abroad.
? An ability to work flexible and use initiative wherever possible.
? An ability to deal professional with individuals who are at senior level in the business environment so as to represent the University in a manner to appropriate to a professional organisation.
Experience Required:
? Graduate or equivalent level, or relevant professional experience.
? Personal experience of developing and implementing sales and marketing to trade/customer and consumer markets.
? Knowledge of student recruitment, enquiry management and event management.
? A record of achievement at managerial level.
? IT proficiency – preferably in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Project, Outlook etc.
? Knowledge of data analysis tools would be useful but not essential.
