The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a DSF Systems/Software/Data Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with other engineers at China, even with global 3Mers around world. 3M has been driving digitization in manufacturing processes for some time, we want to help extract as much value as possible as fast as possible from this investment. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Provides/Lead engineering support and services through project organization and execution.  Increases expertise and proficiency in a technical area, including consolidation of skills learned. Establishes and controls project spending to budget by specifying and estimating project costs.  Assumes responsibility of leading medium/large size engineering projects or participates on larger projects where a team approach is utilized. 
• Integrates manufacturing and laboratory business issues/needs into project planning, and presents project status and results to business partners, suppliers, team members and appropriate management.
• Provides systems integration, engineering, project management, and support for application deployments. Technical area includes a domain, application, system, networking, hardware, software, security and language. Projects include one or more applications across multiple work centers. Projects include application deployments in large plants with multiple applications and high complexity.
• Provides software development, database administration, hardware, software, security, and networking support and/or projects for manufacturing data automation and analytics applications along with support services.
• Provides data science and engineering expertise to develop and deploy predictive models in the manufacturing environment.

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

• Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

• Minimum five (3) years of experience in a private, public, government or military environment in one or more of the following areas: digital shop floor system/data/ software application and deployment, industrial automation, manufacturing engineering, and/or manufacturing technology

• Good understanding on language like C#, Python
• Experience with PLC/SCADA/MES/industrial communication and IIoT protocols and standards is preferred

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in IT or Electronic/Electrical or Industrial Control/Automation or Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited institution
• Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience designing and/or deploying digital shop floor system/data/software application, industrial automation, manufacturing engineering, and/or manufacturing technology

Position will be located at 3M China (Shanghai). The job will require to travel to equipment suppliers, manufacturing, and laboratory sites in their assigned area (domestic travel 20%), with high chance on international travel.
