About This Job:

Syngenta Beijing Innovation Center is seeking a highly responsible and self-motivated senior molecular biologist with substantial knowledge in plant cell biology to join the global function Molecular Technology Group. This person will be a key member to develop cell or tissue based high throughput assay system and deliver critical technology and trait project milestones. Particularly, he/she will be responsible for high quality assay design with scale, execute the experiment with and data analysis and interpretation, delivery technology or trait leads for stakeholders. The accountabilities are as following:

• In-depth technical expertise on cell or tissue-based assay system
• Develop fit for purpose assay system
• Provide in-depth technical expertise on gene expression and optimization
• Develop innovative molecular technologies with FTO and new IP generation
• In-depth understanding of genome editing and next generation technologies
• Collaboratively work in cross-functional teams to ensure on time delivery of projects
• Scientific leadership in project development and technical trouble shooting
• Maintain accurate experimental records and perform all activities in compliance with Syngenta quality management and HSE guidelines

Qualifications:

• PhD in molecular biology or cell biology, plus 5+ years working experience in relevant field with a proven record of success in the form of patents and publications
• Expert in cell/tissue based rapid assay system and able to scale up
• Strong background in gene expression in plant cell
• Proficient in use various bioinformatics tools and basic bioinformatics programming and NGS analysis skills are preferred.
• Proficient in oral and written English communication
• Good team player, strong execution, and flexible in handling changes

• Early morning or late evening teleconference is required to ensure global communication
• Role based in Changping district, Beijing, with occasional business travel
