Manages the development of wafer designs, processes, and specifications. Provides technical support during the wafer fabrication process. Works with design and processing engineers to ensure that processing methods are compatible. Facilitates manufacturing through the recommendation of new processes and procedures. Requires an advanced degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering and at least 15 years of experience in the field of MEMS sensor processing or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures including processes not associated with CMOS process lines. These processes include:

1. Wet etching, both isotropic and anisotropic. Should know which enchants to use for metals, including Ni, Ti, W, Fe, Cu, Al, Ta, and the noble metals. Must appreciate the undesirable effects of inadvertent electrochemical etching. Will be familiar with enchants to selectively attack the target metal in the presence of other metals. Should be familiar with methods for controlled undercut to achieve desired sidewall profiles.
2. Photo processes including lift-off, trench sidewall patterning, and spray deposition.
3. Must be extremely familiar with the use of all types of polyamides as well as SU-8
4. Must have intimate knowledge of electroplating and pulsed plating methodologies.
5. Should be knowledgeable in metal deposition techniques including sputtering and evaporation.

The above capabilities are not optional. A successful candidate will be able to answer detailed processing questions, questions regarding chemistry and chemical formulation. Will need to provide examples chemical equations for plating, etching and CVD reactions. This candidate will be able to describe in detail the physical mechanisms involved in physical vapor deposition, understand plasma generation, and reactive plasma etching techniques.

This position involves the management of highly trained process engineers. The successful candidate will most likely have experience working for a MEMS company or University/National Lab exploring MEMS technology. He will manage both production and development work within the same FAB. Similar management experience is required. This position relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

The Responsibility

• Management of process engineers, both production and development
• 6"-line Fab operation and possible expansion to 8", 1000p/m capacity
• Direct equipment maintenance engineers
• Insure appropriate process capability is available
• Insure product quality, working with QA
• Maintain quality control with appropriate SPC and Analytic Methods
• Coordinate with R&D and Eng on New Process/Product Development

The Requirement:

• Advanced Degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering (PhD preferred)
  Minimum of 15 years of demonstrated work experience in Fab
• Strong Wafer Process experience, particularly with MEMS or other non-CMOS technologies.
• Demonstrated hands on engineering supervision and/or team leadership experience.
  Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large projects/programs.
  Strong demonstrated ability to write, speak and present information effectively and persuasively across communication settings.
• Solid Team Player.
• Intimate knowledge and experience in ISO 9001 and/or other quality systems
  Self-sufficient PC skills: knowledge of office an MS products, knowledge of Google Apps a significant plus.
• Excellent English Speaking.
