Overall Purpose of Job

This should be a broad overview of this position’s function. Include the overall scope of the position and the authority this position possesses in terms of programs/ projects/ operations and establishing policy.

·        To lead a team of VAVE Engineers and Senior VAVE Engineers to identify, validate and implement design, sourcing and process changes related to the achievement of VAVE savings for 4 product lines in Asia Pacific, i.e. Braking, OSS, Steering and Electronics. Manages the VAVE team to ensure delivery of the Operating Plan savings commitment

Major Responsibilities 

List the major responsibilities and accountabilities of this position. Include quantifiable data where appropriate (i.e. budget dollars, etc.)

l  Constantly identify VAVE, through the team and personally, opportunities that may result in cost reduction or increased value to the customer

l  Evaluate, discuss and agree within TRW, and the customer, savings that can be introduced

l  Prepare and obtain the CQA/Business Case and CEA sign-off by senior management for the projects to be implemented

l  Annually coordinate the preparation of the VAVE savings budget and give-backs that will be included in the financial Operating Plan. Present the budget savings to Senior TRW Management

l  Manage the validation and implementation of the necessary design and process changes related to VAVE cost reductions being undertaken by the VAVE team

l  Manage all activities and functions, including Product Engineering, Sales, Purchasing, AME and Plant Operations that are necessary to deliver the planned VAVE savings

l  Provide employee assessment, training, development and objective setting

l  As appropriate hand off the day-to-day project implementation to Plant/Program Management after the required criteria are met

l  Report the monthly status of the savings Forecast against Operating Plan and ensure the necessary actions are taken if shortfalls are evident

l  Work with Global VAVE functions in order to share and implement common improvement goals

l  Assign work to the VAVE Team and ensure that completion is to the desired quality and timing

l  Undertake disciplinary action as required

l  Resolve conflicts between the VMT and other functions engaged on VAVE activities

·        Competent in all aspects of Value Analysis and Value Engineering techniques and procedures

Education & Work Experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or related engineering field. Masters degree preferred

Language: proficient command of Chinese and English

Experience: 10 years of progressive experience working in related automotive industries preferably in Design, VAVE and Program Management. Must have a proven record, of at least 5 years, of managing a team of VAVE professionals
