Purpose of the job:

This role serve as a vital resource for Operations by applying technical and organizational skills to drive the plant level continuous improvement program targeted at delivering maximum value from the assets, while continuously improving process safety and production efficiency across the Interconnect Technologies business in China (ZJG site and Dongguan site), Taiwan (Taoyuan site), and Japan (Sasakami site). Improvement Engineers generate tremendous value for the business through their technical and financial knowledge, skills and abilities.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• As a major contact of C&IT Engineering Science for Improvement and Manufacturing process of all hEM-IT sites;

• Accountable to the Engineering Science Improvement Leader for delivery of improvements;

• Partner with plant operation and maintenance personnel to identify and track performance indicators (reliability (GMISS…), yield, asset utilization and cost (Productivity) to be used in identification of technology gaps and continuous improvement opportunities;

• hEM-IT manufacturing knowledge/know-how transfer (to sites); new production introduction and scale up;

• Champion process safety activities and act as a resource for relevant process safety concerns such as Cardinal Rules, SIS/LOPA, Safety System Impairment, Reactive Chemicals, etc;

• Serves as the implementation arm of the Engineering Science. This includes serving as the local focal point for Most Effective Technology (MET) implementation, LOPA / LPP follow-up and implementation along with best practice and standardization for sites;

• Initiate manufacturing engineering improvement/upgrade or new technology introduction through driving knowledge exchange with technology experts (plant resources, Engineering Science, internal consultant groups, sister plants, local external experts) to increase awareness of potential improvement opportunities for the business;

• Managing Global Technology Plan to align with Business goals, and drive project execution and coach team on application of the Global Project Methodology (GPM) work process;

• Lead and support plant continuous improvement activities aligned to the PSTP and support the capital plan for the facility. Capable to take up related GPM specific roles of project manager or manufacturing representative.

• Documentation and systemizations.

Education, Working Experience, Certificate and Other Requirements:

• Master / Bachelor in Chemical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

• Above 3 years (in Dow) or 5 years (outside Dow) in Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Project Management or equivalent.

• Experience in contractor manufacturing is a plus.

• Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or above is preferred.

• Both English and Chinese language skill are critical to rapid success.

• Experience working effectively at shop floor to senior leaders.
