Overall Purpose of Job:



CE focus on cost-oriented innovation leadership with ZF’s product-related cost expertise.
? CE analyze product and module costs for generating cost transparency
? CE create improvement ideas for finding cost optimized solutions
? CE support internally and externally for a best cost focused argumentation

The TCE for the Chemicals commodity is a technical position mainly supporting the China supply base for all relevant product lines. The position is mainly focused on the cost analysis on suppliers’ product pre and post ZF SOP.


Major Responsibilities:
? Generate Best-Practice-Product Cost Calculations considering a Total Cost approach;
? Support of Product Cost Engineering and cross functional teams (e.g. SE Simultaneous Engineering team) during Product Development Process with specific Technology know how for Concept evaluations and Product benchmarks;
? Investigate and identify measures for optimizing cost structures;
? Execution of internal and external Manufacturing process validations (Brown-Field examinations) and evaluation of the Cost performance within the Commodity Chemicals;
? Demonstration and negotiation of Cost structures, based on Best Practice Cost calculations, with suppliers and customers;
? Continuous development of group wide Cost Engineering technology-specific Reference-processes, procedures and tools;
? Managing and steering of international and cross functional projects.
? Support the establishment of a group wide technology-specific knowledge base
? Calculation of the cost impact associated with technical changes

Key Competencies:

? Technical Skills / Knowledge / Manufacturing Experience
o A necessary working knowledge for Chemicals (e.g. to recognize drawings with standards & requirement, to analysis relative manufacturing process based on the drawings )
o A necessary working knowledge for CAD or similar software for further understanding on products
o Existing experience on manufacturing of Chemicals, (e.g. working experience as process, production, quality engineer, SQE on rubber)
o An understanding / application of international requirements such as ASTM, DIN, JIS, EN, ISO and a general understanding of CATIA or equivalent CAD.
o A broad base knowledge of multi commodity process, such as vulcanization by injection, compression or transfer moulding, stamping and machining, and will continue to learn and leverage all other specific commodities as required.

? Product cost estimation/calculation Concept
o A necessary knowledge for cost structure / cost break down with the impacted factors (e.g. machine hourly rate) and a basic knowledge for relative cost database
o Estimation/calculation product cost by tools (e.g. cost break down, TcPCM and so on)

? People Skills / Influencing Skills
o Includes internal ZF colleagues and suppliers at various levels of management.
o Able to prioritize strategic/tactical initiatives and balance with available group resources
o Capability to lead cross functional multi-disciplined teams

? Excellent Communication Skills
o Efficient PC computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)
o Very good verbal and written communication skill sets
o Ability to alternate from the lead to the team member role as situations warrant
o Demonstrated presentation skills in convinces others to adopt ideas and change


Education and Experience:

Educational: Studies of engineering science or comparable studies;

                          
Experience: Minimum of 5 years work experience in a responsibility suitable for Cost Engineering: Process Engineering /Product engineering /Project Management, Cost Engineering or VAVE. Prefer experience with manufacturing of rubber.
