POSITION: Mechanical Engineer

REPORTING TO: Project Manager

RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for all Mechanical Services works on site including HVAC, Utilities, Hydraulics and Fire, and coordination with other site installation activities.


AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

1. Report to the Project Manager and provide regular update and progress information.
2. Manage and supervise all mechanical services works on site including HVAC, Utilities, Hydraulics and Fire
3. Very good understanding of all mechanical issues and be able to advise and support the site supervisors to solve difficult tasks.
4. Involvement in procurement activities, vendor qualification, tenders, tender reviews and contract negotiations for large equipment items and installation contracts.
5. Manage contracts for main equipment installations.
6. Involvement with construction permits, as required, and assisting with construction approvals.
7. Liaison with the appropriate authorities for utilities connections.
8. Coordinate installation activities for mechanical services with other site installation works.
9. Develop monthly work schedules for construction activities.
10. Advise on deviations from master schedule.
11. Advise on any changes to design and potential cost impacts.
12. Liaise with local design institute for design changes or clarifications.
13. Manage any redesign activities
14. Report on installation progress, issues or outstanding items.
15. Have strong environmental and energy efficiency focus on all equipment installed.
16. Review installation quality and approval of samples.
17. Quality issues to be resolved promptly.
18. Manage contractors properly to mitigate defects
19. Be aware and assist with safety management
20. Manage commissioning and balancing activities.
21. Develop and execute commissioning reports.
22. Manage maintenance manuals and prepare documentation for handover to client.
23. Manage training activities and handover activities
24. Assist other team members as required
25. Any other tasks maybe assigned to you by your direct manager.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Engineering, HVAC or Mechanical discipline

EXPERIENCE:
8+ years relevant experience.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
1. Ability to work in English and possess good English ability.
2. Excellent knowledge and understanding of Mechanical systems and equipment.
3. Reliable, trustworthy and dependable in performing the above tasks
4. Ability to work under minimal supervision and (at times) under pressure.
5. Ability to quickly comprehend and perform job requested to a high standard.
6. Well organised
7. Hands on team player. Support and back up other staff members and perform a range of duties from routine to complex.
8. Ability to work effectively under pressure and to respond appropriately to emergency situations.
9. Extremely flexible - varied workload and constant deadlines.
