JOB DESCRIPTION:
Horizon Hobby is an international developer, marketer and distributor of radio control (RC) hobby products, model trains and a wide range of educational, toy and other hobby products. Horizon employs nearly 700 people and sells products in more than 50 countries around the world. Corporate headquarters, along with the main distribution facility and product service center, are located in Champaign, Illinois in the U.S.A. Additional distribution centers are located in Ontario, California; Harlow, England and Elmshorn, Germany.
The Quality Manager is responsible for providing leadership to our China QA team. The Quality Manager will work with our U.S. based QA team to ensure that the China QA team is applying appropriate quality inspection and audit requirements to our suppliers in Asia. In addition, the Quality Manager works with our Purchasing and Product Development teams to maintain existing supplier relationships and manage existing and new products to ensure that they arrive on time with an excellent level of quality that delights our customers.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Define product and quality strategies to achieve target performance, quality and cost goals.
* Build and lead the QA team in China.
* Develop each team member and assist him or her with his or her knowledge and career growth
* Provide quality training to our QA team and our suppliers.
* Monitor source inspections and the source inspection scheduling process.
* Assist suppliers with quality control process reviews.
* Perform supplier quality process audits.
* Perform quality management system evaluations and audits at the facilities of our suppliers.
* Resolve product quality issues at suppliers' facilities.
* Lead supplier corrective and preventive action efforts.
* Provide quality improvement support and leadership to suppliers.
* Act as a liaison between Horizon Hobby and Asian Suppliers
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
* Fluent in written and spoken Mandarin Chinese and English
* Bachelor of Science degree or higher, preferably BSEE, BSCE, BSME or BSIE
* Minimum of 5 years Quality Assurance management experience.
* Experience in ISO 9000 or similar Quality standards and the ability to implement those standards.
* Significant experience with quality tools such as root cause analysis, FMEA, corrective action, etc.
* Experience working in electronics or automotive.
* Experience with QA test and inspection plan development.
* Computer skills in Microsoft Office programs
* Engineering CAD software knowledge is a plus.
* Experience and knowledge of working with RC hobby products is a plus.
LOCATION:
Horizon's China QA team headquarters is in Zhuhai, China. We have suppliers and QA team members throughout China.
