Goal and Purpose of Position
The incumbent will bear the system responsibility for the new automated and integrated material handling system projects, based on defined customer requirements and optimized operation processes. It includes:
a. The logistic system concept / layout in accordance with customer requirements and needs;
b. Implementation of the logistic system concept / plant layout in system engineering (offer) and detail engineering work (detailed specification phase);
c. Consistency of the physical and logical layouts;and
d. Definition and feasibility of the assured characteristics, including acceptance (in conjunction with System Engineer)
System design projects (during offer phase) are carried out by a System Designer, under the management of the Sales Manager. He shall actively involve in the sales phase by supporting the Sales Manager in selling the solutions to the customers.
Core tasks
1. Investigate and review customer's requirements.
2. Collect customer project data, if required, and analyse received data.
3. Define design parameter based on the result of data analysis.
4. Develop possible solutions based on defined customer requirements / design parameters.
5. Design and propose suitable sub-systems based on detailed equipments performance calculation.
6. Prepare presentation (PowerPoint) and present the proposed solutions to the customer in workshop or meeting.
7. To request for suppliers quotations (RFQ) for sub-systems including preparing sub-systems requirement specification, liaise with suppliers, review suppliers' quotations, define gaps between supplier's quotation against RFQ etc.
8. Analysing the sub-system of the suppliers including the functionalities and the according scope of supply.
9. Prepare technical descriptions of proposed system for tender submission, as well as functional descriptions.
10. Prepare PowerPoint presentation of the proposed system for tender interview and clarification.
11. Actively support the Sales Manager technically, during sales and tender clarification phases. He shall take a key role to convince the customer to buy the proposed system.
12. Carry out detailed engineering work of the chosen system during detailed specification phase.
13. Coordinate the integration and overall design between Swisslog and other suppliers.
Requipments
· Degree or above holder in mechanical, Mechatronics, engineering or equivalent
· Minimum 5 years proven working experience in Industry system design
· Working experience in automated material handling system is an added advantage but not essential
· Outstanding engineering process skills
· Excellent analysis and problem solving skills, sound judgment, good communication and presentation skills
· Demonstrated creativity and innovation
· Good working knowledge of MS office applications (PPT, Excel, Access, etc.) and AutoCAD
· Able to work with high independence, able to work under pressure and tight schedule
· Proactive, self-motivated, must be a good team play with strong customer focus
· Proficiency in English (oral & written) and Mandarin(oral) is a must
Willing to travel both domestically and overseas on short notice
