Title: Supplier Quality & Development Engineer

Report to: Global Supply Chain Head

X Lead Part Qualifications Requirements process (production part approval process) for new products and major changes to existing components/systems for commodities and/or product development programs as assigned.

?X Identify and lead projects to drive the external failure rates and internal defect rates down by a minimum of 15% per year through VA/VE, error-proofing and Lean events.

?X Lead supplier On-Site Assessments (OSA), action planning and follow-up.

Essential Job Functions

?X Serve CS quality needs as assigned. This could include, but is not limited to production part approval, reactive quality problem resolution, assisting supplier evaluation and selection, Six Sigma and Quality training, business process development, projects to improve supplier quality at CS China factories.

?X On an ongoing basis, validate that supplier process control plans are in place and being followed.

?X Mine and consolidate warranty data, factory reject data, and other sources for component quality improvement opportunities.

?X Develop field failure rate performance charts; build 12 month 15% reduction plans and forecasted failure rate projections; track/report performance to plan and forecast monthly to CS staff and other leaders.

?X Create business cases to ensure that resources are obtained as required from Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Suppliers and other required functions to fulfill 15% year over year deliverables. Manage programs and lead these projects?Kown the deliverables.

?X Understand the current status of Supply Chain activities for assigned commodities across CS. Represent CS in meetings associated with component quality for assigned commodities.

?X Lead data mining and collection for cost recovery efforts for assigned components. Must work closely with CS manufacturing plants, supply chain organization and Strategic Sourcing Teams in this effort.

?X Leverage outside resources, best practices, internal consulting and past experience to ensure that CS business objectives in component and supplier quality improvement are met.

?X Travel to supplier and IR factories may average 30%, with occasional months of up to 75%.

?X Must have the ability to be self managed when working in a virtual/remote team.

Education, Experience & Skills

?X Bachelor?/s degree in Engineering, or BS plus equivalent engineering experience and training.

?X Six Sigma (Green Belt) or equivalent required. Certified Black Belt is preferred.

?X Minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing, design, quality or supply chain. Other relevant experience will be considered.

?X Demonstrated experience with project management and team leadership is required.

?X Must be experienced and confident in a highly matrixed work environment.

?X Other key competencies required are; strong leadership, interpersonal, communication skills, customer satisfaction focused, team oriented, results driven, and strong computer skills.

?X Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing required

?X Professional certification (CPM, CQE, APICS, CQM, PE, etc) is a plus.

?X Proficient in English
