MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
To increase revenue and contribution for the OMEC product group by ensuring through the Engineering and Operational functions the successful development, and introduction of products that are in line with our strategic goals and objectives. To ensure performance, quality and margins are maintained on the OMEC product group in line with changing market requirements.
REPORTING LINE:
Line Manager: Product Group Manager - Micrometrics
RESPONSIBILITIES:
§ The gathering and collation of suitable market intelligence that supports business decisions on the OMEC product group.
§ The monitoring of OMEC product group performance and providing the direction and implementation of plans that ensure the product group achieves business growth targets.
§ The generation of detailed business cases which justify new product development and existing products optimization that can expand the product group offering. Business cases should use standard templates and include; a detailed market environment analysis, strategy proposal and financials showing IRR (Internal Rate of Return) and payback.
§ The ownership and generation of a product roadmap which outlines the direction of the product line over a 3 to 5 year horizon and clearly defines the products to be introduced and cessated during that period.
§ Develop a detailed URS (User Requirement Specification) and to provide the "voice of the customer" during translation projects to ensure that any products introduced within the OMEC arena are in line with market requirements and achieve the desired financial objectives.
§ To provide a front end input into the processes within Engineering and in particular to detail the user personas and use scenarios that assist in development prioritisation.
§ To assist with the product launch process for new products making clear use of the processes and templates within the arena.
§ Provide reports to the Product Group Manager (PGM) that provides details on:
o Project progress against requirements
o Product portfolio issues, including cost, quality and special requests
§ Assist with devising, implementing and monitoring the communication programme within the OMEC product group for existing products, ensure the message delivered consistently to the target market.
§ Competition analysis and competitor comparison including selling guide and comparison spread sheet.
§ To develop and disseminate the marketing support material for existing products and any new product introduction, including:
o Generation and maintenance of sales training material
o Generation and maintenance of external market communication material, including but not limited to brochures, web site /social media content, technical papers etc.
IMPACT:
§ To increase the revenue and contribution from the OMEC product group
§ To ensure products introduced within the OMEC arena are in line with customer requirements and achieve a minimum of the projections included in any business case rationale.
§ To improve the launch process of new products ensuring that all material is in place for an effective product introduction.
§ To provide clear visibility and confidence within the project and quality teams in the OMEC arena on the priority of tasks to be tackled.
§ To provide a consistency to the marketing mix offering within the OMEC product group by market segment which supports the overall business.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
· To operate within the overall policy of the company and to keep within its written rules.
· To respond to the guidelines set down by the Product Group Manager – Micrometrics
·To work closely with Engineering Manager, Project Managers, Manufacturing Engineer, Customer Support, Product Technical Specialists, Product / Market Communication individuals in the OMEC arena.
Entry Qualifications
· A graduate or higher degree in a Physical science is preferred but a person with relevant and demonstrable experience or training is acceptable.
· Must have an excellent command of spoken and written English.
· Must be fluent in Mandarin and able to communicate effectively in the Chinese market.
Skills & Experience
· The candidate should ideally have experience in sales or marketing high technology, capital instrumentation to the research side of the Pharmaceutical, Chemical or Biotechnology industry sectors.
· A minimum of 3 years experience in either a technical sales or product marketing role.
Knowledge
- A proven ability at problem solving. Excellent communication skills, coupled with an ability to instil confidence in the receiver. Good listening skills and the ability to translate what a customer says into what they need.
- A requirement to be computer literate with appropriate package software.
