Key Responsibilities:

? Design and development of domestic appliances
? Design proposals, evaluation, development
? 3D CAD
? Material selection based on requirements and strength properties;
? Support the suppliers / OEM on the manufacturing processes like plastic molding, machining, steel parts, and stamping parts;
? Support to establish and coordinate test qualification matrix for new products;
? Coordinate, run and control endurance and other tests during the design phase;
? Support to establish test equipment and gauge for new products.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

? Qualifications:
? B.Eng / B.Sc (Hons) or equivalent in mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering

? Experience:
? 3+ years in new product development, preferably SDA appliances
? Proven ability in design of mechanical components and systems
? Proven ability to take overall design responsibility on a new product
? Proven ability to take designs into production within integrated or outsourced (OEM) factories.
? Multi-site/time zone project teams
? The following experience is beneficial but not essential
o Design of consumer products
o 3D surfacing
o Model making and RP
o Product testing
o High volume manufacturing

? High Level of English:
? At least CET-4, but preferably CET-6, with frequent use.
? Plus at least one of following options:
o At least 3 months working overseas for a foreign (English Speaking) company
o At least 6 months living/studying overseas (English Speaking country)
o At least 2 years working directly with English speaking counterpart in project team.

? Knowledge/Attributes:
o Thorough understanding of design and manufacture of mechanical components and systems
o Ability to innovate and provide creative input to new products.
o Ability to do detailed design of mechanical components
o Proficient in modelling and detailing using a 3D CAD system
(Preferably Solidworks, but training will be given if not
o Ability to critically review engineering proposals, and evaluate the integrity/robustness of design concepts
o Ability to troubleshoot, analyse failures and implement changes to improve product
o Experience in the use of testing techniques, developing test equipment, procedures & documentation to validate product reliability
o Experience in the use of design validation tools such as
