Job Description Format
- Are you ready for a once in a lifetime opportuntity to take a leadership role in defining and implementing capabilities to build the future supply chain for Microsoft? The Sourcing and Planning Group in the Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Information and Services (MSCIS) organization, within the Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB) Division, is seeking a Global Materials Director that will assume a key leadership role across a virtual end to end supply chain team to make that happen.
- The Sourcing and Planning Group manages end-to-end planning for the Microsoft supply chain, from forecasting to build and materials planning to finished good inventory management. The group also manages sourcing for all hardware & software components, in addition to the contract manufacturing services for Microsoft hardware and retail software products.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Define, Develop and Execute Microsoft Materials Management Strategy: The Global Materials Director will own building out the Material Management capabilities for the MSCIS Organization in Asia that will enable the scale and complexity necessary to support the Microsoft products of today and tomorrow. Articulating a clear strategic vision that inspires multiple groups and is able to rally support for that vision throughout the organization.
- Build Robust Infrastructure: Ownership for component inventory thoughout the Microsoft Hardware supply chain network. Partnering with Sourcing organization to map out complex multi-tier supply chain networks. Create consistent and comprehensive visibility into materials pipeline In support of production plans.
- An ideal candidate for the Global Materials Director role will have the following skills and experience:
- A strategic thinker with a proven track record of implementing and delivering complex supply chain solutions across multiple geographies
- Ability to develop efficient work processes for complex projects involving many groups, across multiple geographies and effectively coordinate, implement and maintain those processes
- Demonstrated experience interacting with senior management and executives (internally & externally) with the ability to effectively communicate and present to all levels of management
- Deals well with tough political situations and are proactive in building and maintaining a network of effective relationships
- Readily and easily switches gears in response to unexpected events and circumstances
- Analyzes, explains and draws logical conclusions based on complex and ambiguous data from multiple content areas
Qualifications:
- 10+ plus years of experience in high-tech manufacturing, consumer electronics and supply chain
- Significant experience in a variety of manufacturing and/or planning environments
- Background in managing international relationships and remote organizations
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
