Operations Manager

 

The Operations Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operations of the Engineering, Quality, Inventory Control, Purchasing, Logistics, and Production departments, in accordance with company policies and procedures, current national, provincial and local standards, guidelines and regulations. The Operations Manager directs manufacturing and administrative operations through a team of subordinate managers and supervisors. The position ensures increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials and machines. This individual will also be responsible for all other duties as assigned by Executive Management.

Job Specific Responsibilities

  

  • Directs Engineering, Quality, Inventory Control, Purchasing, Logistics, and Production departments in the fulfillment of project assignments, within budget and on schedule.

  • Supervises a staff which involves direct and indirect responsibilities for interviewing, selection, training, motivating, performance evaluations, wage and salary administration, developing goals and developing procedures to ensure achievement of goals.

  • Assures that all Unit staff attends required training in hazardous communication and safety as established by OSHA guidelines.

  • Maintains safe working conditions and practices in the unit.

  • Ensures the performance, condition, and reliability of all mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure efficient operations.

  • Provides fiscal management for unit operations to ensure proper utilization of financial resources.

  • This position manages all employees of the Engineering, Quality, Inventory Control, Purchasing, Logistics, and Production departments and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within the departments.

  • Schedule and monitor all phases of production process.

  • Maintain all production equipment and facilities.

  • Manage the activities of the shop floor, under the direction of the business unit manager and follow established procedures and approved processes.

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate departmental activities to fulfill sales orders, meet inventory requirements, and deliver manufactured products in a timely fashion.

  • Participates in formulating and administering company policies, directing and coordinating all divisional department activities to develop and implement long-range goals and objectives to meet business and profitability growth objectives.

  • Confers with the Executive Management personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions.

  • Develops, reviews, updates and implements business strategic planning, including production, financial performance and new product development.

  • Oversees manufacturing and materials departments to review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing and facility problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays and to meet future growth.

  • Oversees key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis.

                                

  • Reviews and supports Engineering, Quality, Inventory Control, Purchasing, Logistics, and Production to oversee design concepts with fundamental or new technology used for new or existing products or improvement to provide cost reduction, safety, customer requirements and market growth.

  

  • Manages policy deployment in the areas of lean manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures.

  • Ensures compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery.

  • Manages compliance with national and provincial regulations.
