ACCOUNTABILITY:

Provide reliable testing results with a sense of urgency.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Follow HSES procedures of both plant and laboratory. Operate in a safe, tidy and efficient manner; maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area. Actively get involved with contributions to safety, housekeeping, environment and process improvement initiatives.

·         Conduct quality tests following work procedures and ASTM/GB methods.  Reference appropriate resource documents online.

·        Enter and upload test data into Lubrizol internal software.

·         Understand and perform testing calculations; ability to identify and resolve incorrect calculations and process the calculations manually if necessary.  Recognize data inconsistencies before uploading.

·         Plot reference data on control charts.  Understand control charting and when to investigate potential issues.  Must be able to identify, troubleshoot, and work closely with customers to resolve issues or problems.  Appropriately elevate the situation to supervisor and/or customer when necessary.

·         Recognize priority conflicts of testing; prioritize and communicate test schedules to customers.  Run multiple tests at a time.

·         Facilitate sample flow between work area and other areas in the department.  Communicate issues to appropriate personnel. 

·         Recognize validity of test data.  Notify supervisor regarding non-conformances and be able to identify root causes of inconsistent test data.  Perform routine troubleshooting and repair on tests and equipment.

·         Articulate and communicate testing issues to co-worker, supervisor, and customer.  Provide timely status updates.  Work with customers on special requests.  Follow-up on customer questions or concerns.

·         Actively get involved with contributions to safety, housekeeping, environmental and process improvement initiatives.

·         Update work instructions and procedures as necessary; forward recommended changes to document controller. Maintain thorough documentation and associated information following ISO guidelines.

·         Move and cross train to help areas of highest need focusing on overall group needs.

REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

• Education Background:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry
• College chemistry or equivalent science coursework

• Technical Skills:
• Computer skills: Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint
• Competent in the use of mathematical skills as they relate to chemical analysist

• Other Experiences Preferred:
• One year of laboratory related experience

o   Fluent in English both written and verbal

o   Ability to convey technical information in a clear and concise manner to employees at all levels of the organization.
