DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job Description
Responsible for providing technical support, technical capability &
accountability of diverse scope to the Supply Chain organization to
ensure continuity of supply, supplier development, supplier readiness
and improvement activities in order to improve the cost, delivery,
response, service & quality requirements for customers. This
incumbent will be the conduit between existing and targeted customers,
Flex SSCM/GAM/BD, Design, and GCM
Principle Accountabilities:
Business Strategy and Direction:
* Promote revenue generation through developing an in depth
understanding of each segment specific business needs, translating
those needs tasks for the electronic & mechanical commodity
management team and developing differentiated electrical &
mechanical solutions for the Segment and customers.
* Forge relationships with the supply base that allow Flex ongoing
visibility to the industry, the players, and information that will
allow Flex to build a compelling Supply Chain Solution.
* Ensure that all aspects of Supply Chain are included in the strategy
(i.e., Logistics, New business development, Design, Supplier Quality
Development and Commodity Management).
* Initiate/monitor involvement between the GCM team and Flex design
* Drive positive impact on margin enhancement through differentiated
component sourcing solutions
* Develop effective relationships with SSCM/ GAM to ensure that GCM is
fully involved with new business opportunities. Establish credibility
with customers through the demonstration of technical competence
* Develop executive level relationships with the supply base and
customers, ensuring that Flex, wants, needs and requirements are
clearly communicated and to build compelling Supply Chain Solutions for
Strategic Clients.
* Report KRI status on a regular basis and participate in Segments
Supply Chain Meetings
NPI/Development Management:
* Working closely with the management teams within the Design
Engineering and Materials functions, responsible for leading the
implementation of strategies for efficient and cost effective materials
to deliver the maximum advantage to the business (segment) and
Flextronics Medical customers.
* Establish close and continuous collaboration with Project Managers,
Design Engineers and Manufacturing Sites' Program Managers, to support
them in the development and improvement of the Bill of Materials of
each product under development, while developing a robust supply chain
that will minimize risk of business discontinuities when in mass
production.
* Lead and direct sourcing teams in identifying, communicating and
implementing sourcing strategies and supply chain management best
practice.
* Plan and implement activities related to the timely and cost
effective procurement inventory control, planning and quality control
of production materials
* Work with strategic Supply Management to develop and deploy a
cohesive supply chain strategy for segment specific products and
customers including
+ Supplier
Evaluation
+ Traditional
EMS vs ODM/CDM supplyChain
+ Obsolescence
and PLC management
+ Develop
end-to-end supply chain solutions that add value to our customers
* Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, material
control systems and metrics to reduce costs, streamline procedures and
implement solutions.
* Work with the Global Commodity management and strategic supply chain
management teams on sourcing strategies including supplier selection,
risk analysis and capacity management
* Utilize GPO resources to advice designers of lower-cost material or
assembly approaches: and sit it in on design reviews as required Drive
the GPO team to carry out the necessary supplier development
initiatives to fill process gaps and unique customer process challenges
* Help develop a quick RFO process, based on Segment business knowledge
and direct suppliers with accurate target pricing
Technical Management:
* Understand customer, regulatory, and quality qualification
requirements for new products and see execution through the site's
materials, quality and engineering teams
* Develop and maintain Technology Roadmap and Supplier Capabilities
* Provide technical backup for alternate sourcing recommendations
* Utilize GCM resources to advise designers of lower-cost material or
assembly approaches, and sit it in on design reviews as required
* Drive the GCM team to carry out the necessary supplier development
initiatives to fill process gaps and unique customer process challenges
Cost Management:
* Maintain a cost-effective infrastructure that supports the size and
scale of the Segment Business
* Develop pricing strategies for production, design, and benchmark
quoting
* Ensure a process for including the Segment business critical parts
into the quarterly negotiation cycle
* Utilize previous investments & activities for future requirements
* Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes,
systems and value engineering
* Define, develop and make effective use of cost analysis tools
* Help develop a quick RFQ process, based on Segment business knowledge
and direct suppliers with accurate target pricing
* Provide regular guidance on cost/price trends
* Develop understanding of price points for common types / commodities
within the segment
* Provide mechanical inventory reduction management recommendations
* Develop Sustainable Materials Margin opportunities
* Establish long term pricing contracts that support the needs of the
customer and segment
* Push for reciprocal terms that keeps Flex at a cash neutral position
worse case
* Ensure lowest landed component costs are negotiated, captured, and
implemented across segment businesses.
