职位描述
The Global External Research and Development (GER&D) function is a virtualised R&D group within Lilly that takes an entrepreneurial approach to helping Lilly deliver medicines across all markets in which it has a presence. This is achieved by seeking commercially viable early and late stage assets, and marketed products for potential in-licensing, partnering and acquisition activities, and also by generating additional value from internal Lilly and externally identified assets via novel financing models in disease areas of high unmet medical need. The group has expertise across the value chain of drug discovery and development, e.g., in new target identification and mechanisms of disease biology, new platform technologies (inc. Chemistry platforms), in vitro and in vivo models of safety and efficacy, through to early phase clinical development, where it has the ability to take compounds through to proof of concept studies via its entrepreneurial Chorus unit. The vast majority of R&D in the Chorus group is delivered virtually via an extensive network of strategic alliances and collaborations with academia, biotechs and CROs.
In order to fulfil its mission, the GER&D function requires to develop and maintain productive interactions with key stakeholders across the whole organisation, including Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL), the individual Business Units (BUs), Corporate Business Development (CBD), Corporate Finance and Investment Banking (CFIB), Lilly Ventures and the Marketing Affiliates in the countries where Lilly has a presence. With respect to the Emerging Markets BU (EMBU), GER&D is responsible for identifying and evaluating new business opportunities which contribute to the organic and inorganic growth strategy and operational objectives of Lilly within these regions. These opportunities can range from, for example, regional development of Lilly or external party molecules via partnering and collaboration deals, through to identification of co-promotion or co-marketing opportunities for Lilly Marketing Companies or equity investments or acquisitions. Additionally, given the increasing levels of innovative science and drug development being undertaken within the Emerging Market regions, opportunities for Lilly to in-license innovative portfolio of assets from regional biotech's and SMEs that can be executed globally, are anticipated to grow significantly in number over the coming years.
Within the Emerging Markets group, a vacancy has recently arisen for a Director role to be based in-market within the Asia Pacific region. The successful candidate will lead a team (to be defined) responsible for identifying and progressing new business opportunities (both inwards and outwards) aligned to the strategy and business objectives of GER&D and EMBU. The position will report into the Region Head, ACEJ/Emerging Markets, GER&D, who is based in Erl Wood, UK.
