职位描述
Requirements:
? Ph. D or M.S.in biological science with experience in Biological Sciences, preferably with major emphasis on virology and hands-on experience performing viral assays.
? 5 or more for M.S. and 3 or more for Ph.D.
? Knowledge of GLP and cGMP guidelines is required.
? Previous personnel management experience is required.
? Possesses rigorous scientific skills in virology and a strong working knowledge of the technical and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) / current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) compliance requirements for biosafety testing.
? Ability to communicate scientific concepts verbally and textually in English.
Job Descriptions:
? Manages staff within the Virology / Viral Clearance department.
? Supervises, plans and reviews operations for assigned staff
? Training, managing and evaluating training effectiveness
? Coordinating, scheduling and assigning work.
? Recommends hire/transfer/promotion/discharge and salary changes and acts on employee problems.
? Conducts employee performance appraisals in a timely and objective manner.
? Oversees virology assays based on cell culture, molecular or immunological techniques
? Oversees viral clearance projects that require the performance of viral spikes (adding purified virus) to a customer’s processing materials and then assessing virus amounts remaining to determine removal or inactivation.
? Demonstrates leadership and support of company goals and objectives.
? Ensures on-time completion of client sample testing in a GLP/cGMP compliant manner employing rigorous scientific methods.
? Responsible for conduct of each study and generation of final report.
? Demonstrates broad and innovative independent scientific technical expertise.
? As assigned by Management, acts as Study Director or Principal Investigator for assays and assumes all associated responsibilities.
? Interacts with pertinent internal departments (i.e. QA and Project Management) to assure that appropriate testing information is effectively communicated.
? Effectively interacts with clients to address scientific and related issues.
? Interacts with subcontractors (as appropriate) and assumes responsibility to ensure timely and accurate completion of all subcontracted assays.
? Prepares and revises technical documents (Client Protocols, SOPs, etc.)
? Oversees routine equipment monitoring and cleaning (i.e. centrifuges, biosafety and chemical hoods, refrigerators, incubators and freezers) and keeps records according to guidelines and SOPs.
? Responsible for initiating supply purchase and maintaining adequate laboratory components.
? Completes all requisite training (i.e. Bloodborne Pathogen, Quality Assurance, safety, etc.).
Position Specific Responsibilities:
? Manage, supervise and ensure training of scientists and technicians to achieve high levels of knowledge and technical competence in the following:
? Best practices for safety and handling of biohazards, chemical hazards and radiation hazards.
? In vitro assays for detection of adventitious viral contaminants.
? Titration assays, Plaque assays, TCID50 assays, and PCR quantitation assays.
? Assays for viral identity, purity, potency and bioburden.
? Mammalian cell culture for many different cell lines and cell types from different species
? Preparation of master virus seed stocks and subsequent working stocks.
? Infection of cells using viruses classified as agents of biosafety levels 2 and 3.
? Detection and characterization of virus-induced cytopathic effects.
? Recognition of virus-induced hemadsorption and hemagglutionation.
? Reading Immunofluorescence assay slides by microscopic observation.
? Strictly adhere to good laboratory practices and good documentation practices
? Detect and report non-conforming events (NCE).
? Conduct investigations of NCEs, identify root causes and implement changes to avoid future NCEs.
