COMMODITY TRADING MANAGER (For palm-oil based physical and futures markets)

We are part of Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad, a Malaysian Stock Exchange listed company. We are one of the world’s largest producers of basic oleochemicals and a leading global player in the Oleochemical industry, producing a wide range of vegetable-oil based fatty acids and derivatives, amongst others, esters, amides, fatty alcohols and MES, at our world-scale plants, and servicing an expanding international customer base. As a key member of the Commercial team, the Trading Manager will oversee the Palm Oil/ Vegetable Oil trade activities to ensure market risk analytics are run effectively. This role requires the candidate to have a solid physical trading background and a thorough understanding of the commodities market (physical and futures) and the forex markets. This role shall be based in our HQ in Malaysia with the expectation that the incumbent be transferred back to Shanghai after the 2-year secondment in Malaysia.

Key responsibilities are :

· Drive development of the trading strategies, identify and recommend short term trading opportunities and hedging actions.

· Analyse global oil market trends, commodity price trends, forex markets, competitive situations and supply &demand situations, keeping aware of any adverse market changes.

• Maintain and update all documents and agreements related to the trading activities.

· Communicate activities and information timely and effectively with appropriate associates, internally and externally, domestically and internationally, to apply global leverage and executing sourcing strategies.

· Negotiate and conclude term and spot contracts for purchase and sales of oils and manage forex exposures.

Job Requirements:

· Degree in Mathematics/ Statistic/ Accounting/ Economics/ Chemistry/ Science from a first tier university with 5-8 years of experience in related functions, preferably in palm based trading.

· Experience in risk management, trade support in the oil market and related currency exposure.

· Ability to identify arbitrage opportunities and leverage those profitably.

· Good statistical skills and a strong analytical mind is a MUST.

· Must be able to work effectively in a team, flexibly handling a wide range of potential issues through all areas of the business for risk.
