Merchandise Planner
MISSION
Create long-term strategic and short-term tactical plans that maximize revenue and profitability at the store and sub department level in order to achieve our financial objectives.
40% Strategic Planning:
Develop annual financial plans to category and store level, etc.
Develop plans that support consumer focused strategies and trends as driven by category buyer team.
Drive financial plans In accordance with sales per sq m and capacity by pavilion.
Create quarterly strategic financial plans throughout the buy process in partnership with Merchandise Planning Manager and category buying team
METRICS:
- Revenue for area of responsibility
- Stock Ledger Margin for area of responsibility
- Turn for area of responsibility
- Forecast within +/- 5% monthly
50% Communication:
- Drive communication of financial plans to buying team.
- Identify & communicate +/- due to special events, launches, calendar shifts, etc.
- Actively participate in creating a motivating work environment.
- Actively participate in staff meetings and biz reviews.
- Identify weekly store and sub-department variances to plan for further analysis by Merchandise Planning Manager.
10% Tactical Planning:
Complete monthly forecast of all financial components at BU, category and store level.
Recap current space productivity and manage capacity data by store.
Complete what if business scenarios and give recommendations as needed.
Analyze weekly business trends and capitalize on opportunities and offset liabilities with Merchandise Planning Manager.
MINIMUM RELEVANT WORKING EXPERIENCE
3 years buying office or finance experience for a multi-store retailer
MINIMUM SKILL
Technical: Retail Math including intricacies of open to buy and gross margin, retail and financial experience, Familiarity with merchandise management systems. PC literate with working knowledge of Excel including setting up spreadsheets, formulas, etc.
Communication/Language: Chinese, English
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
Retail planning experience preferred
