Based in the PAREXGROUP Shanghai R&D Centre, the Vice Director will report to the Shanghai R&D Centre Director, Mr Gilles Morales, and assist him in the supervision of a team of around 20 people dedicated both to supporting the growth of the Chinese Construction Market and to implementing some global R&D programs for PAREXGROUP.

I- Missions and Responsibilities:
I.1- Supporting Research Programs for the Chinese Market:
The Vice Director assists the Director into the definition and the supervision of the programs dedicated:
?to the design of products, services etc..to support the growth of the Chinese market on our core segments: tile adhesives, façade and more specifically waterproofing products ( 9 people)
?to identify and homologate the key raw materials for the Chinese formulas including analysis and quality control ( 5 people)

He contributes under the supervision of the Shanghai R&D Centre Director:
?To the definition of these programs together with the Marketing Directors and the Purchase department
?To the definition of the workload of the dedicated teams
?To the good implementation of the programs
?To the interpretation and restitution of the results to the management

I.2- Supporting Research Programs at Group Level:
It is the strategy of PAREXGROUP that the Shanghai R&D Centre becomes the second Global R&D Centre and builds strong connexions between the Lyon Global R&D Centre (50 people) and the other Asia Pacific PAREXGROUP subsidiaries.
In that perspective, the Vice Director under the supervision of the Shanghai R&D Centre Director:
?Will be in charge of the Management and support of Waterproofing projects at the Group level (3 people). This will include:
oSupervision of all the projects relative to waterproofing whether global or local
oTransfer of expertise to the waterproofing team
oDirect management of some projects.

?Will participate to the meetings of the International Team in charge of the management of Global projects that are monitored at the group level by the Global Marketing Director and the Global R&D Director.

?Will contribute to the definition and the implementation of the programs to qualify the Raw Materials from China to be used in PAREXGROUP other countries. These programs will be defined in collaboration with the local and Global purchase department.( 3 people)


I.3- Supporting Asia Pacific Zone in technology transfer:
Following the booming of the Asia zone and the recent acquisitions of PAREXGROUP, the development of Asia ParexGroup subsidiaries requires more technical support provided today partly from France and partly from Singapore. The mid term strategy in order to improve the overall efficiency of the process will be to progressively increase the support to these countries from China.
In that perspective the Vice Director will help the Director to organize the support to these countries which will include:
?The identification on a yearly basis of the workload needed to support these countries
?The planning of the exchanges between Shanghai R&D Centre and the subsidiaries.

I.4- Improving on a continuous basis the operating mode of the Shanghai R&D center:
The Vice director will assist the Director in the continuous improvement of the Shanghai R&D lab:
?Safety:
oRespect and make respected by the teams the PAREXGROUP safety policy in the R&D Centre.
oContribute to the definition and implementation of the Security improvement plan on a yearly basis.
?Quality:
oContribute in collaboration with the industrial direction, the purchase department and the quality control to assess the quality and consistency of the formulas.
?Environmental
oDevelop formulas taking into account the continuous improvement of their environmental footprint
?Efficiency:
oContribute strongly in the laboratory to the scientific education of the young scientists to raise on a continuous basis the level of their technical skills.

II- SKILLS and PROFILE:
II.1 - Managerial skills
?Able to transform marketing requests in to scientific properties in order to develop formulas,
?contributes to identify, select and approve raw materials
?Proposes routes to develop new Products to meet the Marketing Directors and the Country Manager expectations
?Support the subsidiaries in the transfer of technology at the request of the Director.
?Manages the relationship with suppliers at the request of the Director, taking into account potential confidentiality issues
?Assign and helps prioritize projects to subordinates, giving directions to ensure successful completion on time
?Able to follow and promote the ISO and OSHA procedures within the R&D centre and others departments
?Supervise in the lab subordinates execution of experiments for accuracy and precision
?Supervise subordinates execution of status report on a regular basis and deliver formal presentation to senior management
?Identifies of needs for manpower and equipment consistently with the workload and safety policy defined by the Shanghai R&D Centre Director and the Country Manager.
?Promote and maintain a sufficient level of confidentiality in the R&D centre
?Contribute to the management of the interfaces with others departments
( marketing, industrial, technical etc )

II.2- Profile
?At ease both with Chinese and Western cultures
?Fluent in Chinese and English
?Scientific background with a minimum of 5 years in Construction Materials
?Minimum 5 years of experience as Senior Manager in a laboratory
?Leadership and good team spirit
?can manage multiple task
?Strong ethics
