Role Summary/Purpose
The CTX (Coal Chemical) market is growing rapidly in China. In order to serve this market, GE Water is supplying water treatment solutions. These include New Products under development and existing products as well as third party components and unit operations.
Essential Responsibilities
The CTX Product Manager is directly responsible for the overall profitability and growth of the CTX Product Line in this segment, owns the Multi-Generation Product Plan (MGPP) for the segment, and develops short and long range revenue growth plans and competitive strategies for the CTX business in China for the Engineered Systems business.
• Oversee the total product life cycle for the CTX product line utilizing a multi-generational product plan interacting with Technology, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Engineering (ITO and OTR), Q&R, Sourcing, Sales and Marketing to drive product platform improvements, differentiation, penetration and market expansion
• Interact with customers and design institutes, and attend conferences to learn industry trends and position our technology and business strategy in CTX.
• Develop growth and competitive strategies for the CTX product in China. Build, align and develop commercial capabilities related to the CTX Market; Work with Commercial Engineering and Sales to execute strategy
• Develop concepts for new products by analyzing internal and external customer feedback, market research, emerging technology, and competitive trends.
• Drive the process of New Product Initiatives (NPI) and their final launch into the marketplace; maintain in-depth understanding of market sizing, segmentation, and shares, the specificities of each segment, and constantly track changes and trends
• Work to develop and execute launch plans to bring NPIs to the market by working closely with the Commercial, Marketing, Technology and Supply Chain teams
• Track the technical and commercial performance of existing and new products in the CTX space relative to plans, and introduce necessary improvements
• Establish and deliver short and long term sales growth and profitability improvement targets for CTX Products and applicable service products; Develop and coordinate execution plans to drive improvement;
• Work closely with the Commercial Engineering teams to ensure appropriate high quality sales training, support to Direct, Indirect, and 3rd Party partners, Win/Loss evaluations, installation lists, case studies, sales literature, etc are provided
• Determine pricing structure and implement pricing strategies; Work closely with EAP and Commercial Engineering teams to develop pricing/costing tools, price exception levels of authority, costing standards and execution of product line pricing policy
• Develop, manage and implement product demand forecasts; work closely with PSI and Manufacturing to plan production capacities, and manage production and inventory levels
• Stay closely connected with Technology, Sales and Marketing to maintain a deep knowledge of current product and market developments, in addition to identifying opportunities for new market penetration
• Work closely with Existing Product Managers for Products that are utilized within the CTX portfolio ensuring seemless collaboration.
Qualifications/Requirements
• B.S. degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering
• Minimum 10 years of broad experience covering Technology, product development, process engineering and commercial
• Minimum 10 years of water treatment experience
• Knowledge of CTX Market in China
• Experience directly managing a product line
• Experience working with diverse, global teams
• Demonstrated ability to create a vision, a strategy around this vision and drive a plan to execute
• Strong process and project management skills with ability to drive projects and meet deadlines
• Proven success in developing and leveraging cross-functional and cross-business relationships
• Strong analytical and computer skills
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English
