Essential Responsibilities
The Lead Design Certification engineer works in GE Wind Engineering team in China to manage certifications of wind turbine with international and Chinese regulatory agencies.
• Work with all levels of business operations to develop wind turbine certification strategy and execution plan
• Work with international teams from all Wind departments across multiple disciplines to develop design certification packages. Certification scope covers all Wind Turbine Platforms and the major turbine sub-systems (controls, rotor, machinery, electrical, tower) as well as single approval and site specific design assessments
• Engage with international/Chinese local regulatory agencies as the GE point-of-contact to communicate system designs, commercial priorities, and program schedule
• Oversee testing of blades, gearboxes, and turbine performance in the field
• Take ownership on compliance label design
• Demonstrate GE's compliance with international/Chinese local design codes to agency technical experts with the support of CoE engineers
• Meet with customers to review field installations against certified designs, with the flexibility needed to drive short-cycle certifications to closure
• Maintain regular communication with Engineering and Product Line leadership to review program schedules, funding, and commercial risks
• Provide training to design team on certification related requirement
• Develop new tools/processes to streamline team activities
• Other assignment on business need
Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering
• Minimum 1 year of regulatory or program management experience related to design engineering
• Familiar with wind turbine system or willing to learn wind turbine system level expertise
• Ability to manage multiple projects and schedules simultaneously
• Flexible to travel to wind farm or supplier site
• Strong English oral/written communication
• Systematic thinking, self-directed
• Flexible to assignment per business urgency

• Understanding of IEC, EU Directives (ATEX, LV, EMC, Machinery)
• Strong analytical skill of problem solving
• Ability to work in a matrix organization
