Primary Purpose:
Under the general supervision of the Regional Leader Development Director, this position is responsible for providing a broad range of talent, leadership and organizational development services and support to the business leaders and HR generalists across the Asia- Pacific region. Key focus areas include: Leadership and Management Development, Succession Planning, High Potential development, 360 feedback, and Career Development. The role also is responsible for the successful implementation of regional leader development programs, tools and processes as determined by the Regional Council and the Corporate Leader Development. Actively provides input on state of the art approaches and methods for the planning and development of these programs, tools and processes. Collaborates across business units and geographies to seek input and to drive implementation. Enables the organization to attract, retain and develop talented, engaged and committed employees in order to achieve the region’s strategic goals.
Primary Duties (italics indicate unique to the role):
1. Coordinate Strategic Talent Acquisition Roundtable (STAR) and Summit to promote activities that (a) promote Johnson Controls as an “Employer of Choice”; (b) leverage BBPs across business units and (c) develop practical assessment tools to enhance the candidate selection process.
2. Coordinate Regional LD Summit / Roundtables focused on building capabilities around learning and development (e.g. region-wide needs assessment, sharing best practices, materials, joint training initiatives, catalogue, certification, etc)
3. Coordinate SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) activities that include: (a) leadership conference, (b) recruitment and placement of JCI mentors/judges; (c) relationship building of key universities and (d) future talent pool development.
4. Lead the Business Immersion Program (BIP) to ensure: (a) quality candidates are sourced to meet the needs of the business; and (b) internships are appropriately managed by providing necessary support to line managers
5. Report out of quarterly metrics of all LD related activities in the region.
6. Serve as Business Partner for one of the Business Units by providing leader development and organizational effectiveness services (e.g. STR, HIPO development, LEM/Leader Effectiveness, Assessments, OD consulting, facilitation, change projects).
7. Serve as JCLE Learning Facilitator, which includes the following: (a) conduct development discussions with participants regarding 360 and project team feedback so as enhance participants’ development plans; (b) complete JCLE Profile for all coachees and conduct follow-up discussion with participant and his/her manager; (c) deliver specific learning sessions and assist in overall program design and session facilitation.
8. Contribute to the design and implementation of programs and processes that adequately supply the organization with highly competent leaders.
9. Serve on cross-business unit teams that develop and implement programs, tools and processes for the execution of the region’s leader development strategy.
10. Establish effective work relationships across the business units and with external providers.
11. Support global leader development activities on an as needed basis.
Job Specifications:
? BA/BS in Business, Sales/Marketing, Finance or Human Resources or related experience is required.
? MA/MS/MBA in Human Resources, Organizational Development or Psychology or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
? Eight plus (8+) years of progressive experience in Leader Development and/or Organization Development in multinational companies
? Possess well-developed consulting skills and demonstrates depth of capability in several areas including Leadership Development, Skills Assessment, Organization Design/Effectiveness, and Change Management.
? Ability to interact effectively and foster collaborative relationships with employees at all levels of the organization. Excellent influencing skills with a passion for people development and learning.
? Must be able to understand strategic issues impacting the business and link leadership effectiveness to business results.
? Successful track record designing and managing multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision.
? Excellent cross-cultural/global communication skills; familiarity in working in multi-cultural environments with demonstrated ability in resolving cultural communication issues.
? Ability to work in dynamic, sometimes ambiguous environment where priorities may change. Flexible and adaptable when dealing with ambiguity, conflicting priorities and crises
? Must be proactive, a self-starter, results oriented and take ownership
? Fluency in English and Mandarin essential
? Strong executive coaching and mentoring skills.
? Willing to get involved in a variety of tasks from high level strategic to detailed and routine tasks
? Periodic travel (25%) within Asia region will be required (also international)
