Medtronic Technology Center is the largest R&D center in addition to the one of Medtronic in the U.S., which is also one of the largest R&D centers in the medical technology industry in China. Since its establishment eight years ago, Medtronic China R&D Center has developed 50 innovative products, covering surgical technology and products, emerging technologies, respiratory and monitoring solutions, vascular treatment protocols, specialist treatments and diabetes solutions. Among which, 28 have been successfully marketed in China and 18 have been exported to overseas markets.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Apply solid electrical design skills to develop medical devices to meet specific performance, cost and delivery goals according to product development quality system, including development of main processor board, user interface, battery/power management designs and so on
• Create and implement the product test plans/protocols and generate test reports to ensure product design meets the specifications and quality system requirements.
• Own the responsibility of the schematic design and carry out its implementation to meet product requirements and project schedule.
• As a team member, significantly contribute to completion various project activities, including product specification definition, risk analysis, schematic capture, PCBA layout, design reviews, EMC design and design transfer to manufacturing.
• As a technical veteran, review the design of the other engineers and answer or solve technical issues raised by the design team.
• Define the electronical BOM structure to satisfy the overall system BOM requirements; Determine the make-or-buy components and identify the critical parts in terms of manufacturing and registration requirements.
• Worked closely with cross-function team significantly contribute to completion various project activities , including design reviews with manufacturing engineers, test engineers, mechanical engineers, software engineers to ensure the design meets the product requirements, including EMC, safety, reliability and manufacturability. Be creative in finding cost effective and innovative solutions in the product development process
• Interface with selected suppliers, provide technical knowledge during selection of electronic components, electromechanical sub-assemblies, PCB/A vendors, cable vendors and other suppliers to ensure highest quality while meeting cost as well as reliability goals.
• Support supply chain managers for vendor management, when required, to ensure suppliers deliver quality products in timely manner.
• Make, recommend or justify critical technical decisions in product design. The decision should be based on broad investigation and enough testing.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• Bachelors degree required, Electronic Engineering /Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Ph.D. degree with 3 years experience in relevant field.
• Excellent skills in the signal process circuit design, know about the DSP design and coding.
• Good experience at design and circuit simulation tools, such as Pspice, ADS, and so on…
• Problem solving and analytical skills, excellent technical and business judgment ability.
• Ability to interface effectively with various functional areas.
• Ability to figure out creative ways to meet the aggressive schedule and quality requirements.
• High quality standard and attention to details.
• Excellent skills in verbal and written English communication.
• Knowledge sharing and strong team work.
• Proactive and highly self-motivated.
