For this purpose a new position is open for a dedicated and motivated animal caretaker in the Department of Pharmacology and Facility, Diabetes Research China.

The department is responsible for support of diabetes and obesity research projects in the discovery phase and the management of our animal facility. Currently, the department consists of 1 scientist, 2 research associates, 8 animal caretakers, 2 veterinarians and a department manager. We are a highly motivated and productive team with high standards for our animal care and use and our deliveries into the projects. We work with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment and value a high team spirit, good communication and dynamic collaborations between both scientists and research assistants. Challenges

The main goal for the position is to ensure high quality care for our laboratory mice and rats in our state of the art animal facility. You will be responsible for taking care of the animals and ensure that the daily care lives up to our high standards for the care and use of experimental animals. You will have a close collaboration with other animal caretakers and our responsible veterinarian.

Your main tasks are performing operational and technical tasks to provide comprehensive care for laboratory rodents, including:
• Daily care including provision of food and water, and change cages as well as observation, handling and interaction with the animals.
• Cleans and sanitizes the animal enclosures and equipment.
• Examines each animal daily for general health and overall well being
• Administers treatment and simple medications to animals, including administration of anesthetics, etc., according to veterinarian’s instructions.
• Assists in the receiving and processing of newly arrived animals.
• Checks and maintains the animal identification system.
• Performs dosing and collection of biological specimens (feces, urine, blood specimens) for laboratory research as directed.
• Perform procedures according to SOP (Standard Operating Procedures).
• Maintains complete and accurate records. Assists with the implementation of new technologies within care and use of experimental animals.
• Be involved in the work on animal welfare in our laboratories.
• Performs all other related tasks in compliance with SOPs.

确保对公司内实验动物提供高质量的养护工作。负责实验动物的日常养护，确保其达到公司对实验动物的高标准要求。与公司内其他实验动物工作者和兽医密切合作。
你的主要职责是为啮齿类实验动物的综合护理提供养护和技术方面的工作。工作内容包括:

• 日常护理,包括喂料、喂水、更换笼具以及观察, 处理动物。
• 负责清洁工作场所和设备。
• 每天观察动物的大体健康和福利。
• 在兽医的指导下给予治疗和给药,包括麻醉。
• 协助新进动物的接受和处理。
• 查看并维护动物的鉴别系统
• 参与部分动物实验，比如和研究助理及研究员合作进行给药和取集生物样本(血,粪, 尿)。
• 按照标准操作规程实施各项操作。
• 维护完整和准确的记录。
• 协助实验动物新技术的执行与使用。
• 参与实验动物福利相关的工作。
• 根据SOP进行其它相关工作。

Qualifications
• College diploma or BS in experimental animal science, veterinary medicine, medicine or related biological background.
• More than 0.5 year experience with demonstrated knowledge with handling and taking care of laboratory mice and rats.
• A high awareness of and interest in animal ethics and animal welfare.
• Flexible attitude towards changing working hours
• You are proactive and able to take responsibility beyond own tasks.
• You are communicating and collaborating in a positive and motivating way, a good team-player, highly flexible and have a “can-do” approach.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Some command of spoken and written English will be considered an advantage
