Accountabilities

· Communicate with the stakeholders from R&D to understand demands and bridge the gap between the business (R&D) and development team.

· Prototyping idea via the agile development

· Provide technical leadership on a team delivering software solutions, product releases, and operational tasks.

· Collaborate with other delivery teams to identify and repair technical issues that spans across teams.Drives the implementation of the technical strategy from architectural authority.

· Develops detailed designs and technical specifications

· Develops, configures and tests software to meet user requirements and associated acceptance criteria, performance criteria and non-functional requirements in line with quality standards

· Ensures that test plans and test cases are created to meet quality, functional and non-functional requirements

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

Critical knowledge

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry or related field; equivalent work experience may be considered

· Good technical knowledge of the technologies for which they undertake coding and testing

· Demonstrable directly-related experience of software development in a Scientific Research & Development environment

· Strong planning and solution delivery skills to enable sound scoping and sprint planning skills

· Detailed understanding of the technical architecture and software components that make up the applications under their control

· Strong coding and testing skills

· Strong team working skills applied to both internal development, supplier augmentation and third party supplier services

· Good understanding of agile practices, techniques and tools

· Sound understanding of the agile development lifecycle particularly continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD)

· Good understanding of testing methods and evidence of building solutions in way which allow them to be tested continuously as code is added or changed (DevOps)

· Good communication skills and ability to work with end users

Critical experience

· Minimum 5+ years of design, coding and testing of the specific technologies/applications they are accountable for delivering workable software

· Excellent team management and stakeholder management skills to deliver solutions in a critical business operational environment

· Leading teams of technical experts in the science domain and preferably business knowledge.

· Strong analytical skills.

· Able to resolve complex problems and apply innovative solutions on a global scale.

· Practical working experience of applying agile development approaches, methods, including release and sprint planning and execution

· 1 year+ working in a global team or multi-culture environment.

· GitHub project is preferred to be listed

Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities

· Thorough understanding on cloud technologies includes AWS basic services (EC2, RDS – possibly some Lambda and API Gateway), infrastructure as code (i.e: Ansible, AWS Cloud Formation, YAML Kubernetes configurations), DevOps platform (Chef Habitat) and familiarity with test frameworks.

· Experience with design and implementation of enterprise-level application and integration architectures using a RESTful approach.

· Detailed knowledge of HTML, XML, Java, JavaScript, Web services (REST) and web communication protocols.

· Basic understanding on Python, VBA, graph DB (e.g.neo4j) and Tensorflow / Pytorch is nice to have.

· Willingness to learn and work collaboratively in a high performing and agile based team

· Self-organising, achieves tasks without constant monitoring

· Strong organisation and time management skills

· Strong communication skills – written and oral - and the ability to present and advocate ideas to various audiences (technical and non-technical)

· Fluent English communication capabilities in writing; Nice to have the fluent oral English communication capabilities
