Role purpose / Accountabilities

·         Study manager / monitor in Operator and Consumer Safety Trait Studies responsible for independent and timely delivery of high quality studies and reports which characterize genetically modified crops in support of China cultivation regulatory approvals of our products.

·         The role requires working closely with local Syngenta functions and participation in regulatory project teams, setting strategy and developing project plans in conjunction with RA colleagues.

·         This position involves managing work placement, monitor study programs / data generation and delivery of externally contracted work and regulatory field trial management to meet project needs. Provide GM trait technical expertise in support of China registrations as required.

• Opportunities exist to represent the company through participation in scientific professional organizations, industry organizations and with regulatory agencies.
• Work with global/regional/country teams and technical platform to define and solve key scientific problems, particularly on the design, use and interpretation of safety data.

·         Prepare / review the reports and makes recommendations for further work, taking into account regulatory and technical implications both within China and globally.

·         Participate and contribute in key discussions with external regulatory agencies and other stakeholders to negotiate issues on the acceptability of results and procedures for compounds under review. Develops links with other parts of the company and the industry and introduces new development of data requirements and regulations in China to the platform.

Remain abreast of current research to identify potential opportunities and issues.

Critical Knowledge, experience & capabilities

Critical knowledge

• The position demands wide-ranging knowledge of GM Traits/products and China requirements for cultivation approval. A MS degree with minimum of 3 years industry related experience, or a PhD in Plant Breeding, Agronomy, Crop Science, or a related subject

Critical experience

·         The ideal candidate will have prior experience with GM Traits and field evaluation work, including experience with cultivation registration requirements in China.

·         Experience of advocating technically robust positions internally and with regulatory authorities.

·         Ability to develop technical skills in multiple disciplines

·         Proficiency in computer programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint are required

·         The incumbent must demonstrate expertise within their field, with sustained performance and accomplishments.    Indications of singular achievement are important as well as the ability to work in high-functioning teams.
