Role purpose

As part of a growing Product Safety team in China, to be responsible for the delivery of human (operator) and dietary risk assessments in China. This will require working with the Syngenta China regulatory, biology and commercial teams to understand detailed project requirements. Interactions with the global Product Safety organisation in other regions is also required as is the need to interact with regulatory agencies and scientific organisations within China.

Accountabilities

· As a specialist in the field of risk assessment to manage the delivery of human and dietary risk assessments to support registrations in China

· Provide technical expertise to identify and solve key scientific problems, with a focus on how to refine risk assessments in ways acceptable to the ICAMA

· By understanding the current and evolving Chinese regulatory guidelines for human risk assessment to provide advice to project teams, highlighting project risks and options for resolution

• To participate in discussions with external regulatory agencies e.g. ICAMA and other stakeholders on the acceptability of Syngenta’s risk assessment approaches

• To work with the global Operator and Consumer Safety platform to ensure the requirements for China are understood and to facilitate the use of wider company expertise in China

• To be responsible for delivering the programme of human (operator) and dietary risk assessments in China

• To build and maintain relationships and credibility with Syngenta teams in China and also with Syngenta’s global Operator and Consumer Safety platform

2. Technically trained in risk assessment through a combination of education and work experience
3. An understanding of the current and evolving Chinese regulatory requirements for human (operator) and dietary risk assessments
4. Human risk assessment for pesticides or a related scientific area e.g. personal care products
5. Presenting and advocating technical solutions to internal and external stakeholders
6. Working in multi-disciplinary project teams
7. Critical technical, leadership and personal capabilities
8. Capable of demonstrating good technical judgement
9. Ability to build networks internally and externally
10. Planning, organizing and monitoring outputs to meet deadlines
11. Creative problem solving skills
12. Ability to work independently whilst also involving others when appropriate
