ROLE PURPOSE

• This position will work on insect control trait research in Biostress Traits Group located in Beijing
• Focus on property characterization of new insect control trait genes and support the discovery pipelines for new mode of action
• Work on multiple tasks in a project team environment to deliver technical objectives timely

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• A bench scientist who will drive innovation and deliver quality improvement
• Design and conduct experiments independently and professionally
• Provide technical support for biostress traits characterization
• Join troubleshooting activities to generate solutions for scientific challenges
• Work together with other group members to achieve the goals as a team

· Document all activities in clear, concise reports and support intellectual property activities

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & CAPABILITIES

Critical knowledge and experience

• PhD in biochemistry, genetics or molecular biology areas, plus at least 2 years of post-graduate work experience in related fields
• Must have excellent knowledge in protein biochemistry, protein structure and molecular biology. Knowledge in lipids and polysaccharides is a plus.
• Must have excellent research experience in tag-free protein purification
• Must have broad knowledge in E. coli heterologous gene expression and protein purification systems. Experience in other systems such as using other bacteria, yeasts, insects or plants is a plus

Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities

• Strong non-tagged protein purification and gene manipulation skills
• Ability to deal with protein aggregation and insolubility issues
• Must know how to operate chromatography systems such as FPLC; LC/MS experience is a plus
• Able to handle multitasks and organize complicated gene expression research plans
• Excellent trouble shooting, data analysis and reporting skills
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in English
