Essential Responsibilities
- Responsible for producing engineering and design deliverables necessary for project execution and proposals, while ensuring conformance to codes, standards, and work instructions. Interface with other disciplines, field operations and project team.
- Typically assigned as a Lead Process Engineer and/or Mentor.
- Prepare and deliver work packages and tasks, according to the ECS Process Engineering Division of Responsibility (DoR), to the schedule/budget and in conformance with RfQ and/or contract requirements and ECS Process Engineering procedures and standards.
- Ensure all outputs are documented and archived according to applicable ISO Procedures and/or Work Instructions per location.
- Ensure all outputs are following the ECS Process Engineering Check and Control procedure. Typically act as the checker.
- Apply technology design principles and tools to size equipment to meet performance requirements.
- Provide support of the procurement effort for equipment and services purchased directly from vendors by ECS. Efforts include technical bid evaluation, vendor recommendation and vendor design and documentation review.
- Ensure the P&ID is developed according to the DoR for P&ID development for tender and execution projects.
- Ensure design modifications have no adverse impact on ability to meet process requirements.
- Interpret project specification and design manual information correctly.
- Establish project design criteria and required operating characteristics based on project contract documents.
- Perform process optimization studies and ensure that components and system designs are selected with optimal efficiency and profitability.
- Analyze the technical proposal, contract, specifications and applicable Lessons Learned relative to process engineering in the project and ensures conformance to contract for all process engineering and material.
- Schedule process-engineering work by PBS and monitor the schedule.
- Assign, monitor and check the work of the project-assigned Process Engineers (Professional Band).
- Estimate and monitor expended man-hours and material estimates and reports updated man-hour projections on a regular basis.
- Act as manufacturer liaison and provides technical assistance in installation, operation and performance evaluations.
- Institute new designs based on Lessons Learned Database, findings from Cost Reduction Initiatives, and outcome from reviews (design, risk, cost and price).
- Ensure the accuracy of the process engineering content provided for inclusion in the O&M Manual.
- Suggest and deploy product and process improvement ideas in relation to the R&D community.
- Provide presentations to clients, Architect/Engineer (A/E) and project teams as requested
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or similar required.
- Typically possess at least >6 years experiences in oil & gas or power industries.
- Study or practice in the following areas
o Applicable international and local standards and specifications
o Regional directives and codes (safety and building)
o Independently perform calculations on the following:
Heat and material balances
Stoichiometry
Heat and mass transfer
Fluid flow
Pressure drop
Pump
o Mass transfer equipment
o Heat exchange equipment design or Heat exchange optimization
o Fluid & Gas transportation
o Gas/Liquid absorption
o Electrolyte chemistry
o Chemical kinetics
o Vapors/Liquids/Solids equilibrium (VLE)
o Hydraulics
o Distillation, stripping, absorption
o Performance guarantees and testing
o Pipe specification
o Factors which influence cost and its relative sensitivity
- Demonstrate initiative, teamwork and commitment
- Proficient at working with designers to produce high-quality, accurate and complete engineering documents (drawings and specifications)
- Effectively communicate technical issues across disciplines, cultures, work locations, and hierarchical level. (written and verbal)
- Proficient with company standard software and discipline specific technical software
- Proficient at planning and organizing
- Effectively lead discipline team assigned to project
- Efficiently analyze technical risks
- Effectively communicate in English
- Ability to work in both office and construction site environments. Must be capable of travel to clients, consultants, suppliers, company offices and job sites. Job sites require use of ladders and stairs to perform duties.
