As a Micro-grid and Distribution Generation Project Lead Engineer, you will be part of the Power Grid (PG) Division and Grid Automation Business Units (BU) based in Beijing. ABB is World’s No.1 in Power Products Business and the product manufactured becomes the key components to transmit and distribute electricity. The division incorporates ABB’s manufacturing network for Transformers, Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Cables and associated equipment. It also offers all the services needed to ensure products’ performance and extend their lifespan.

Your Tasks as a Micro-grid and Distribution Generation Project Lead Engineer will include the following:

？ Technical contribution: Acts as a project technical lead, approves design deliverables. Reviews project documents for conformity and quality assurance. Anticipates and solves unprecedented problems, crucial issues and/or unique conditions. Serves as a specialist in the application of advanced concepts and methods.

？ Sales support: Assists in preparing proposal/presentation of engineering projects/programs (provision of bills of materials, estimated engineering hours, etc.).

？ Contract management: Supports Contract Managers in issuing claims (new/change in scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications, etc.). Provides quality solutions as per customer requirement and delivers within budget and contract. Ensures adherence to safety standards and mitigates potential risks.

？ Planning and control: Creates work plans and cost estimates in own area of responsibility. Reviews and approves scope, budget and schedule for assignments and ensures quality deliverables on time and within targeted cost. Improves effectiveness of work plan in collaboration with other functions.

？ Risk and opportunity management: Creates and executes strategies for risk and opportunity management in one’s area of responsibility. Identifies and manages contract risks taking preventive/corrective actions to resolve any contract/ quality/ program/ cost issues Reports any outstanding issues to management, along with recommendations for resolution.

？ Customer: Works with the customer to shape and deliver solutions and seeks customer feedback to drive and deliver improvements. Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments.

？ Supply chain management: Collaborates with the Supply Chain function to ensure that technical requirements for equipment or services are communicated and agreed on with potential suppliers. Provides technical evaluation of supplier proposals and accepts as fit for purpose supplied equipment or services.

？ Technical leadership and knowledge sharing: Represents function in standardization committees and in communication and conferences pertaining to broad aspects of engineering assignments. Acts as technical specialist/adviser to senior management Collaborates and networks within ABB and externally.

？ Processes and tools: Reviews, develops and documents quality standards, processes, tools and techniques. Ensures that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements. Contributes towards continuous improvements of processes and tools for engineering efficiency.

？ People leadership and development: Manages, develops and coaches small team of Project Engineers/Designers. Assist the management to improve the Division Processes.

？ Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (preferably in Power Systems).
？ Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of Project execution (substation designer and or project engineer in Power Systems).
？ Project execution work experience for drives (VSD), power conversion system, energy storage system etc. is a plus.
？ Field experience (asset).
？ Availability to travel domestic and oversea.
？ Knowledge of related engineering tools and software required to accomplish his task (AutoCad, Office 365).
？ Good knowledge of related products (GIS, Breakers, CT, PT).
？ Good communication, leadership, initiative and negotiation skills.
？ Critical thinking and analytical skills.
？ Must be precise, organized, flexible & autonomous.
？ Result oriented, independent and flexible having the commitment to the business.
？ International culture awareness, ability to communicate and collaborate within global team and with international partners.
