About This Job:
? Support traits and genetics licensing projects for the CHINA + APAC Region, with emphasis on Vegetable Seeds.
? Drive the in- and out-licensing strategy for CHINA + APAC and support the Seed business with emphasis on the Vegetable Seeds, including new VEG SE Business Development opportunities in China and other APAC countries.
? In this context works effectively, independently and pro-actively under the leadership and direction of the Global Vegetable Licensing lead and in close connection with regional Portfolio Managers and local Product Managers.
? Draft and negotiate term sheets and license agreements in collaboration with Business, IP and legal support.
? Manage and successfully conclude license agreements for commercial varieties, germplasm, traits, technology as well as research, testing, production, confidentiality & material transfer agreements in a timely manner with third party seed companies, universities and research institutions in China and other APAC countries.
? Ensure contract compliance (e.g., royalty payments, data requirements, stewardship responsibilities) of licensees and Syngenta are met through database tracking and reporting.
? Locally develop, manage and maintain the licensing network, build and support strong relationships with licensing partners
? Locally support the global R&D technology scouting team.
? Focus on VEG SE - 75% vs. 25% other Seed crops

Essential Knowledge & Experience:
? Proven experience in germplasm, traits and/or technology licensing.
? General knowledge of agronomy and technical background in biology, biochemistry or chemistry. Understanding of the agricultural seeds business cycle for growers, retailers and distributors is a plus.
? Understanding how to manage multidisciplinary teams and projects and operate successfully in a complex matrix organization
? Sound business practices and financial skills.
? 2+ years of relevant, hands-on licensing experience
? 5+ years overall work experience in seed industry and Business
? Good understanding of Agribusiness, technical background in biology/biochemistry, and general knowledge and understanding of commercial business.
? Professional experience with product development, supply management, or product evaluation is a plus.
? Good IP knowhow and legal contract knowledge.
? Solid interpersonal skills for interfacing with 3rd party customers
? Ability to travel as required by the function

Qualifications
? PhD-degree or advanced science degree in Agronomy, Biology or Biochemistry preferred.
? Fluent in Chinese and English, both speaking and writing.
