About This Job:
? Provision of professional, strategic and operational legal support/solution to China business
? Promote and deliver the innovative use of legal tools as an integral part of China business strategies
? Ensures IP rights are protected in accordance with China strategies
? Ensures all Syngenta China’s operations are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as with Syngenta Code of Conduct and policies, and provide guidance on risk management and other regulatory issues
? Participates pro-actively in the governance of assigned business activities
? To work closely with China Lead Counsel in providing legal advice and support for business activities in China, including but not limited to M&A, seeds, crop protection, licensing and biotech activities
? To ensure good standards of legal compliance in China operations including in joint venture entities

Essential Knowledge & Experience:
? More than 10 year experience with reputable international law firm, local Chinese law firm or in-house counsel for multi-national company in China
? Sound knowledge of Chinese Law and practical working experience in China with legal transactions and exposure in a commercial environment in various areas of law, including, commercial, IP, competition law, environmental, management of litigation; knowledge or experience in agribusiness industry is a plus but not essential
? High level of deal negotiation and legal document drafting skills
? Demonstrated track record as a member of a multi-functional team in supporting and meeting agreed targets of solid performance, and providing timely reliable high quality legal and IP support
? Sound knowledge of the overall business and general management practices
? Experienced in working with government authorities and institutions of higher learning / research institutes in China
? Ability to understand and assess legal risks in China and use appropriate judgment in providing legal guidance to the business on operating in a high risk and evolving environment
? Demonstrated ability and passion for partnership with the business
? Able to work independently with some guidance from China Lead Counsel
? Capable of leadership thinking and managing a small legal team;
? Ability to prioritize and manage a wide-range of tasks
? Good team player and capable of working well with commercial teams and other functions in China and global level.

Qualifications
? Bachelor Degree in Law from reputable foreign university or leading local Chinese universities; Master Degree in Law (LLM) from a foreign university is an advantage
? Pass Chinese Judicial Exam;
? Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral in both the English and Chinese language
