Senior Plastic Tooling Engineer- China


The Basics:
OtterBox is working with world-class suppliers on a global scale. Our tooling team is looking for a Senior Plastic Tooling Engineer to provide strategic vision to the tooling function and keep OtterBox in front of technology and our competition. This Otter will help ensure the right tools for the right projects with the right partners. Are you the Otter for the job?

What you’ll do (but not limited to):
1. Lead new tooling projects with the objective of ensuring on time and successful delivery of the projects. achieve TTM ( Time To Market )
2. Follow all employee guidelines WOFE Asia as defined by Otter Products practices, policies and NDA agreement.
3. Managing plastic tooling projects and communicate with US team or local Asia workshop on daily basis in terms schedule, quality.
4. Manages detail timelines for the design, fabrication, and qualification of injection molds, assembly fixtures, testing fixtures, and any tooling or equipment requirements
5. Manages tooling vendor time lines and provides weekly progress reports to Otterbox project management
6. Capable to act as leader in conference call in English with colleagues or vendors from different regions
7. Review part designs for mold ability and manufacturability and provides feedback to Otterbox design engineers to ensure “ Fit for manufacture” designs.
8. Perform Mold Flow analysis and DFM( Design for Manufacturing) on product design and tooling changes.
9. Being able to take lead and responsible for tooling design review, drawing approval and kick-off w/o foreign engineer support.
10. Well know Plastic resin property, Steel Properties. Understand the injection tooling inspection procedures.
11. Particularly strong at precision plastic parts and tool design, Professional at plastic material usage/ application, injection machine setting and plastic mold manufacturing
12. Trouble shooting to resolve manufacturing issues related to injection molding process, tooling fabrication, cosmetic etc.
13. Be responsible for tool quality assurance, conduct tooling buy-off and transfer as required from top management.
14. Check cycle times & resin material handling at m/c and reduce cycle times over estimated figure. Open up the process window.
15. Facilitates vendor requirement reviews and mold specifications and acts as vendor liaison for all molding/tooling related issues
16. Facilitates the inspection of molds, fixtures, gages, and dispositions discrepancies in collaboration with Otterbox design personnel and project needs.
17. Facilitates qualification of injection molded components per Otterbox SOP documents including mold IQ (Installation Qualification), process characterization studies on molded parts (DOE), OQ (Operational Qualification) and PQ (Performance Qualification)
18. Evaluates and if necessary updates procedures and methods to successfully design, fabricate and validate injection molds, assembly fixtures and other tooling through vendors or within the Otterbox development system
19. Provides sustaining engineering management on molds and fixtures / gages already in production
20. Innovation, provide new concept incorporate into part design, tooling design or any new advance technology apply to Otter Products.

What You Need (but not limited to):
1. Must have excellent written and verbal communication/ coordination skills with cross-functional team
2. Excellent written and verbal English skills, including comprehension.
3. Strong project management skills; experience working with Kaizen, Lean or other Task Force teams.
4. Excellent understanding of tooling design and fabrication process, such as machining, CNC, EDM, hardening & grinding etc…
5. Knowledgeable in DFEMA, 6 Sigma and Lean principles.
6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products and experience using Business Information Systems.
7. Solid experience in tooling design/ manufacturing/ process validation.
8. Able to report manufacturing daily progress, follow up in presentable formats (PPT, Word, Excel, etc.).
9. Must be proficient using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Pro/E or similar 3D modeling software.
10. Prefer 10~15years experience in mechanical-engineering field. BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Technology or Plastics). 举报 分享
