Market Intelligence Analyst: Job Description

MI Analyst would be required to perform extensive research on the
supply-demand-price of select commodities and products on the global market
with special focus on the Chinese market. He/ she would be required to build
several forecast models based on collected information.

Industry / Domain:

Chemical, Packaging, Steel & steel products, Plastic and plastic products

Job Location:

Shanghai, China

Job Requirement:

Should have at least 3 years’ experience in Market Research
Should have an understanding of procurement value chain
Should have good knowledge of metals industry, specifically steel and plastics industry in China
Should have a good understanding of Competitive Intelligence, Industry Analysis, Best practice Insights and Pricing & Cost Analysis.
Should be very good in PowerPoint presentation and Report generation.
Ability to effectively operate independently and in a team environment.
Should have good analytical skills, interest to take up challenges, willingness to learn and travel extra mile.

Academic Requirements:

Essential: MBA / Supply Chain / Finance/ International Business

Job Responsibilities:

Identification of sources of information (secondary and primary sources)
Extraction of information/content extraction through the sources of information.
Thorough understanding of the commodity under research. (The production process and other generic technical details of the commodity)
Identification of various drivers of the commodity under research – cost/demand/price drivers.
Determination of the economic behavior of the supply/demand/price of the commodity.
Identification of experts for the commodity and key extraction of information.
Competitive analysis of major suppliers of the commodity.
Industry analysis.
Use of various strategic frameworks to determine competitive positioning
Forecasts – Industry trends
Impact determination - macroeconomic/logistics/supply chain/disruptions/legislation/taxes on the supply and prices of the commodity.
Providing input towards price forecasts - (quantitative information/factors to support the price forecast of the commodity)
