4.EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline
Membership of Professional Engineering bodies.
          
5. RESPONSIBILITIES:
·Five Main Responsibilities:
Job Weighting%   Main Responsibilities
30%         Ensure effective preventative maintenance programs and in place and that all equipment maintenance is done effectively.
30%         Provide the necessary engineering support, services and utilities to the plant.
20%         Ensure all plant and equipment is maintained to the highest level of safety and that Safety remains the Number One plant priority.
10%         Maintain plant-engineering operations in line with Abbott Standards and industry best practice.
10%         Develop and manage all plant capital expenditure and engineering projects.

6.Major Responsibilities/Activities:
Provide leadership to the Engineering Department in the Plant, directing operations to ensure that safety, quality, environmental control, production output, and product cost and other objectives are achieved.
Put in place an effective operational structure for the Engineering Department and anticipate the talents and skills required to meet future needs in the Engineering Department and works to develop peoples’ capabilities to meet these needs.
Ensure compliance to all Abbott policies and procedures, including Abbott Global Technical Standards, meeting all local statutory requirements and meeting regulatory requirements of countries to which products are shipped.
Drive the Business Excellence Program and Lean/Sigma continuous improvement initiatives in the Engineering Department.
Set aggressive goals and targets for the Engineering Department and utilizes KPIs to monitor and improve performance.
Ensure effective maintenance programs and in place and ensure that all equipment maintenance is done effectively.
Provide the necessary engineering support, services and utilities to manufacturing operations and to the plant in general, to achieve plant goals.
Ensure all plant and equipment is maintained to the highest level of safety and work to avoid lost time accidents, with immediate response and thorough investigations and corrective actions for all hazardous occurrences and accidents.
Provide pro-active day-to-day support to the Manufacturing Department to ensure production targets are achieved as per work schedules.
Lead and manage specific projects as required by the Site Director or Division Management.
Recognize crisis situations and make decisions to implement corrective actions at the earliest indication of trouble, even if such decisions delay output, require changes in direction or established goals or negatively impact people.
Interface with Division Management particularly in the areas of Business Excellence and participate as a supportive member of the Abbott Nutrition engineering team.
Ensure good communication and cooperation by encouraging knowledge sharing and the open exchange of ideas within the Engineering Department and with other departments.
Promote and foster good human relations within the Engineering Department and plant-wide and work to ensure that Engineering employees embrace the Abbott Values.
Liaise with Human Resources in the recruitment and selection of personnel for the Engineering Department, in full compliance with company policies and procedures and legislation for recruitment and selection.
Ensure all contractors working under Engineering department are in full compliance with all GMP and Health & Safety rules and regulations, both local and corporate requirements.
Ensure continued implementation of the Performance Excellence initiative throughout the Engineering Department, completing all goals, performance reviews and growth plans as scheduled.
Actively apply new technology in innovative ways to meet current and future needs. Recognize appropriate leading edge techniques and advance into this business and apply as appropriate to the plant.
Provide relevant training internally and externally to ensure employees retain craft skills.

7.REQUIREMENTS:
·Industry experiences:
5 years experience as a maintenance engineer in a manufacturing company or related environment.
2 years experience in project engineering role.
2 years experience in a utilities engineering role.
·Position experiences:
5 years experience in a management role.
The ability to organize, motivate and develop employees.
Good problem solving skills.
Good computer skills
Ability to work independently.
6 employees report directly to the Engineering Manager.
30 employees reporting indirectly

Considerable and continual care and attention is needed to avoid substantial damage to equipment.
Continual attention needed to ensure plant reaches its production potential and avoids downtime and resulting losses.
Environmental non-compliance will result in censure by the regulatory authorities.
Ability to manage major capital projects is essential.
