As a Welding Engineer, you will provide technical expertise, guidance, and ownership of all welding-related activities for the facility and serves as an enterprise resource for welding-related activities.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
? Plan utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel to improve efficiency of operations.
? Develops welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles.
? Conducts research and development investigations to develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures, improve existing or develop new welding equipment, develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures, discover new patterns of welding phenomena, or to correlate and substantiate hypotheses.
? Writes and assists in the development of Welding Procedure System’s to accommodate new requirements from customers.
? Manage all documents associated with WPS development per company quality management system.
? Establish work measurement programs and analyzes work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
? Analyze work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
? Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
? Confer with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
? Evaluate and justify requests for capital expenditures.
Required Education and Experience:
? A Bachelors degree or Master degree in welding engineering, manufacturing operations engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification and or equivalent experience welding on automated systems or robotic welding. Certification or equivalent experience as a Weld Engineer.
? Knowledge of principles and methods of systems analysis, including business process and entity relationship analysis tools and methods.
? Familiarity with standard software packages, including Microsoft Office, database and flow charting.
Desired Experience and Education:
? Minimum of 3 years experience in a weld manufacturing environment.
? Experience in Auto CAD.
? International Welding Engineer Certification (IWE) or Welding Inspector Certification (CWI) is a plus
