Position Title : Material Planner
Function : Operations
Reports to : China Operations Manager


Overview
To effectively plan material acquisitions to achieve efficient and economic running of manufacturing activity. Giving due regard to Working Capital targets, Manufacturing and Purchase lead times.


Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities
? Direct Interface with the suppliers.
? Have frequent contact with overseas suppliers and colleagues (English required)
? Monitor status of schedules & release to supplier base.
? Expedite and ensure adequate supply of materials to daily support production Plans.
? Responsible for setting and monitoring Vendor base actual Spend verses Target.
? Track supplier delivery credibility & have primary responsibility for supplier performance.
? To coordinate schedule changes between Supplier, Manufacturing and Customer coordinator, ensuring consideration given to Material Continuity and Customer satisfaction.
? Identify stock discrepancies to Cycle count Team for further investigation and resolution.
? Assume responsibility for Setting and Maintenance of Planning Parameters for all methods of Procurement.
? Responsible for inventory levels of material from suppliers :-
- Buffers if necessary.
- Consigned inventory levels if applicable.
- Returning material over-shipments.
- Reduction of inventory levels.
- Identifying obsolete stock to be scrapped.
? Seek continuous improvements relating to Inventory reduction Methods.EG. Kanban , Lineside VMI etc.
? Record arrears on a daily basis and communicate forward appropriately paying due consideration to continuity of Supply.
? To understand supplier finite capacity and ensure 20% availability above current demand.
? Support New Product introduction ensuring effective introduction of new parts and effective runout of old parts mitigating Obsolete Material costs.
? Enhancing supplier relationships.
? Must be prepared to undertake further personal development activity



Education and Experience
? Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment, automotive industry preferred, at least 3 years as Material Planner.
? Good command of English in oral and written
? Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive, Mech-Electrical or related
? Minimum 3 years experience of ERP system, such as Oracle, SAP etc.
? Experience of ISO and QS/TS systems
? Experience of Pull systems
? Computer literate
? Well organised
? Able to translate supplier schedules into production activity
? Knowledge of supply and material systems and processes
? Able to negotiate on activity
? Good communication skills, in particular good telephone manner
? Be able to travel if needed
