Position/Job Description:

The Project Sourcing Manager is responsible for all Sourcing related topics in the new product development process for assigned projects, within frames and guidance from Sourcing HQ in Ulm, Germany. The Project Sourcing manager will complete an existing team of R&D, SQA and QC colleagues, managing Sourcing related topics in this cross functional team constellation.

With a minor part of the resource (10-20%), the Project Sourcing Manager will support the Project Sourcing Team in Ulm on a case by case basis, in managing communication with suppliers in new product developments, as well as evaluating (new) potential OEM suppliers for the product categories Electric, Watering and Hand Tools.

Essential Duties:

* Work to ensure Sourcing is an integrated part of every new product development project as assigned, and that Sourcing is involved at an early stage
* Manage Project Sourcing including inquiries, tendering, quote comparisons and price negotiations in interaction with Sourcing HQ in Ulm to prepare decision proposals.
* Manage supplier communication and secure commercial agreements in the product development cycle to safeguard cost, quality and time-to-market
* Close cooperation and communication with Sourcing HQ in Ulm, including weekly and monthly reporting on ongoing activities and project status
* Run OMV / PPV activities and support product maintenance as well as value engineering
* Participate in sourcing decisions and provide a commercial and sourcing perspective in such decisions
* Manage project risk, timelines and work to ensure overall project transparency
* Support strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, supplier performance management, and contract management
* Collect, analyze and compare open book calculations as well as tooling quotes

Preferred Qualifications:

* BS degree in economics or engineering or equivalent background & experience.
* Minimum 5 years experience in Project Sourcing
* Experience in OEM sourcing of consumer goods is an advantage
* Previous positions in cross-functional teams with international reporting are valued
* Proven knowledge in project management
* Fluency in English is required (written and oral)
* Chinese native speaker
* Excellent communication skills
* Deep insights in the product creation process and the value sourcing as well as suppliers can bring in that process
* Deep insights in the Sourcing environment; sufficient to analyze business issues, recommend solutions and strategies and support implementation of changes
* Strong planning, organization, analytical, and problem solving skills
* Knowledge of the strategic Sourcing methodology and its application in fact based negotiations and cross functional team collaboration
* Knowledge and experience with software applications (e.g. Outlook, Microsoft Office) including presentation and database applications
* Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., tact, diplomacy, integrity, negotiation)
* Understanding the importance of consumer views, customer service and internal stakeholder management
* Close cooperation with local team - consisting of R&D, SQA, QC colleagues - all reporting to the Organization in Ulm, Germany
* Readiness to cooperate and report to European colleagues based in Germany
* Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
* Able to work independently in a pro-active way, with high motivation
