Work description – shop manager
At Monki, the role of shop manager involves planning, leadership and coordination of activities within the framework of the company's concepts and business plan. The majority of the shop manager's role involves participating in daily sales and working to achieve set goals and budgets. The shop manager shall also actively work to develop and inspire shop personnel. The shop manager is responsible for making decisions, taking action and being able to provide good explanations for his/her decisions. He/she shall have the ability to delegate responsibility to others and shall be conscious of the abilities of others. The shop manager shall provide open and honest feedback to employees and give them acknowledgement and appreciation. The responsibility areas of a shop manager are as follows:
Sales
The shop manager actively works to lead sales work and continually looks for new opportunities to increase sales.
o Responsible for and provides direct and indirect customer service on the shop floor, at the changing rooms and at the cash register to maximise sales.
o Looks for opportunities to increase customer satisfaction
o Ensures that the shop is always well stocked and clean
o Works actively with and is responsible for layout and display following the company's concept description.
o Works together with Concept Visual to develop new sales opportunities and try to optimise sales.
o Carries out actions and follows them up on a weekly basis.
o Is responsible for regulating product density in the shop in collaboration with the sales controller.
o Is responsible for planning and organising work to streamline operations.
o Ensures that all employees are well informed about the activities going on.
Employees
o Is responsible for ensuring that new employees receive a good introduction and the right conditions to do a good job. See appended checklist for “New employee introduction”.
o Implements and anchors established work descriptions and instructions for all employees in the shop and strive to improve and develop work in the shop.
o Actively works to motivate and inspire employees to make them selling enthusiasts.
o Tries to create job satisfaction both for him/herself and for other employees in the shop and helps them become more efficient and grow in their work.
o Works to ensure that all employees maintain a high level of knowledge.
o Draws up contracts with new employees in accordance with contracts with _______ and while keeping the budget and what is best for the shop in mind.
o Is responsible for ensuring that all employees receive feedback on an ongoing basis and holds performance reviews with all employees in the shop at least once a year.
o Shows interest in other people's points of view, opinions and driving forces.
o Shows respect and consideration to all employees.
Economics/Law/Procedures
o Works in compliance with, anchors and is responsible for ensuring that all employees are acquainted with and work along set procedures. See appended “Monki Sales work procedures”.
o Actively works to plan the shop's year/months/weeks/days.
o Annual budgeting as per instructions.
o Scheduling as per instructions.
o Submits monthly reports on shop expenses and is responsible for the shop's employee satisfaction fund.
o Works in accordance with the guidelines from headquarters and the rules from Monki.
o Continually monitors actual results for sales, hours, takt and payroll expenses as per instructions.
o Participates in monthly meetings and quarterly meetings with the regional manager and other shop managers.
Safety
o Works to minimise waste.
o Is responsible for employee and customer safety.
